Hi i have a saito fa-56 engine ,when the glow plug is connected to battery or its energised the engine transitions and idles fine but when i diconnect it while the engine is running,on high speeds its relativly ok but on idle it dies down, the transition from idle to full throttle is erratic too,the engine kind of sputters or miss,i am using a F series plug i guess its OS,tried two different plugs with same result,am i using the wrong plugs or is it some thing else.....
Thanks

As aerowoof has stated, the low end adj is out. Go [link=http://saito-engines.info/throttle_setup.html]HERE[/link] for info on how to set correctly.

Ya, more than likely its too rich for the low end. find and turn the low end in about 1/4 turn. Is the engine broke in????
Start the engine and set the high end, should be around 10,000 rpm on a broke in engine. Let it idle down and just let it idle and listen to it. If it idles for some time and will come up to speed, your alright.
If it just slows down and stops its rich, it it wants to speed up and then dies its too lean.

At idle, give the fuel line a pinch for about 2-3 seconds, it should speed up and go back to normal, if you have to pinch it more than that time, it's too rich, turn the LSN in about 1/8-1/4 turn. If you pinch the line and it instantly speeds up and dies, it's too lean, enrichin it about 1/8-14 turn. Repeat test. It should hold an idle smoothly for at least 1-2 minutes before loading up with too much oil in the cylinder, it will stumble and then clear out, but return to a good idle and be fine. They all will run erratic if let to sit idling, it builds up oil in the cylinder and cools the element on the glow plug, causing misfires.

I have a saito .56 and it sets idleing for long periods of time and comes right back up . All my saitos have been able to hold a good low idle ( under 2K ) for an extended period.
Check you valves and see if they are set right, that will make a difference in how it runs also. What prop are you running on it? That could make a difference too.
How is your engine mounted ? If inverted , that can cause problems.
