I should make it clear that I haven't used this socket-system with cordless drills. Mine have always employed hefty starter motors.

Ok. I will try it using the cordless drill. It may not have sufficient torque for the task.
If this is the case, what kind of starter motor should I start looking at?

Well, my starter motor was off a Land Rover ... but, that is way more than you will need. I would think that an automotive-type oughta do the trick.

I'm currently using the starter motor from a 500cc motorcycle. Been using that for about 15 years, I guess. That is plenty of power for the stuff I'm flying ... I don't have anything bigger than a 40cc four-stroke. I can't really advise as to specific starter motors that will suit your application.

The big Sullivan, on 24 volts, is a hefty bit of kit. Expensive, though.

I have a spare starter for my 5SFE Toyota Camry engine. It is not too big to handle. I'll dig it out and see if I can mod the shaft to take the socket drive.

I'm the kind of guy that when he has a building matter, walks around the hardware store looking for a solution to a problem. I ordered a Megatron cone from Horizon hobby. Here are the parts. 2 1/2 inch PVC coupling (Electrical grey PVC) a 3" Test plug (in plumbing) 3/8 x 3 1/2 inch carriage bolt. (this replaces the bolt in the test plug and makes it long enough for your drill) and one of these from Horizon. There is a raised area inside the PVC coupling that needs to be cut off. I just put it all together without the silicone adapter and ran it on my drill and cut out the raised area with an exacto knife. You could probably sand it out as well.
