Charge Lipos With Alligator Clips On Car Battery?
My Lipo charger only came with alligator clips-no wall wart. [:'(]
Can I hook these up to my car battery, or is that WAY too much output? Thanks

Yes, a car battery should work. A lot of chargers come this way for convenience at the field because usually there is no place to plug a charger into.

yep... very few chargers come with AC plug....
The car battery is fine... that is what it is designed to use...
I keep a Marine deep cycle battery in the trailer for charging......
As an aside, I have the Bantam e-station BC-6 and that does have AC and DC and I love the charger

I have a charger like that , runs off 12 vots. I bring my deep cycle battery in and use it in the basement. I am thinking of getting a converter 12 volt power sourse. It will run off 115 volt and supply 12 volt DC. I just need to figure out how many amps it needs to produce to run my 12 volt charger.
Anyone got ideas on amp output for inhouse use?????

if you buy a 12v 1 amp it will only be able to charge at 1 amp
i would buy a 12v 5 amp.

Also depends on how many chargers you want to use at once and what size battery you are charging. I'm using 110vac power supply with 12vdc 10amp output and I can charge four 2200mh 3cell lipos at 1.5amps each in about an hour. With the same power supply and same amount of time, I can charge eight 8.4v 1000mh nicads at 800mh.

I often refer to my 2002 Elantra as my mobile charging station. It's always funny to be sitting there topping up some batteries when somebody comes walking up and asks, "So, what's wrong with your car?"

Yetti,
The one thing no one is mentioning here is : Make sure when you charge the batteries using your car
that you ALWAYS do it with the car engine off! I also use an RV deep cycle batt to charge off of.

Thank you all for your replies. I ended up getting a faulty charger, and my batteries are acting strange. I have two at the moment. I used one and I could tell that I was not getting fully power out of it. I used another, nearly identical battery, and my F-35 was ripping fast. The company is sending me a new charger at no charge. I guess I should wait for it. No flying for a week.
