Default Another type of skis

Sorry if this post is silly, but I heard about something from a friend up in canada that really caught my interest. He (non pilot) claims that up there people use a type of skis that fit like a boot over a plane's wheels. Basically, it sounds like just a box on top of the ski that fits over the wheel. I was wondering if anyone here had heard of such a thing and if it really exists. The source as I mentioned is a non-pilot so he doesn't have any additional info on the setup other than what he has seen from a distance as a spectator. A way to easily swap between skis and wheels depending on the state of the runway in the winter would be great, but I've never seen a design for anything like what he described.

Never seen anything like those around, but I would assume they were custom made by the pilot.

I posted a nice plan for skis on another ski post just below this one. Have a look. All you need is a walmart cutting board and a political sign. Less than 10 bucks.
