All the idle bar does is shield the plug element from fuel spray, helping it stay "lit" at low rpm. The idle bar is a small bar that runs across the tip of the glow plug, over the element.

I have done a lot of searching in the past on this subject and I have had both kinds of glow plugs.
In general the engine will run smoother and be more reliable by using the plug with the the bar and thats the only kind I use now.

The plugs will work in both, watch there is to different lengths of plugs long and short, There are F4st and 2st plugs in different heat ranges. There are a lot of LHS in Denver that can help you out or contact a club near you. Larry
