Default Mode 1 and Mode 2 ???????????????

Hi Ya'll, Question, If "A" radio (mode 2} tx/rx have been installed in a plane to fly on channel 36, and radio "B' tx/rx(mode 1) has channel 14 crystals, would it be possible to remove the rx crystal (36) from radio "A" and install the rx crystal from radio "B" (14rx) into radio"A's" rx?
The reason that I ask is, I want a friend of mine that flys on mode 1 and I use mode 2 to maiden my plane for me. I say this is possible, he says that it is not! Please advise, many thanks,

Bassfish

as long as the manufacturer of the crystal are the proper ones for the type of reciver. in other words don't put jr crystals in a futaba. you may only swap rx crystals. since they are both low band crystal you should also have no problems if they are futaba recivers

Keep in mind that mode 1 and 2 are totally different. I few my friends that had a different mode and I about crahsed his plane not real funny then, but it is now. I told him that I would stand beside him and talk him through it. He did great!!! As far as the crystals, I am with the other guy it should work with the same brand, even if they are different put it in and do a very long range check.

What MHZ are the radios? They need to be the same for crystal swaps. ... All 72 MHZ for aircraft.

You may have to swap servo leads around too.

Concerning the Rx crystal swap another factor you must consider is, are both Rx's of the same conversion type? single or dual conversion. You never mentioned rx brand or model.

Good call John. I thought of that AFTER I submitted my post.

Hi John,
The radios are Futaba 72mHz, both use the same model r/x's dual conversion.

Then yes as the others have indicated the proposed switch is appropriate and should present no problem.

No. The receiver channels are not affected by transmitter stick mode.

Depending on the model Futaba receiver, it will work. However, if your reciever is one that works in only High or Low band, the two channels you stated will not work. 11 to 35 is Lo band and 36 to 60 is HiI band. It may work due to being on the cusp, but I wouldn't bet a plane on it. What model receiver do you have??
