It's either a typo or you're looking at the Park Fliers rules

AMA has two levels of membership: The normal membership allows any form of power (internal combustion, jet, electric). The other form of membership is called "Park Pilot" membership. this one is limited to small electric planes and costs less.

That's correct. If you join the Park Pilot Program, you are limited to the size, speed and motor you use. If you join the Open Membership Program, there are fewer restrictions.

You printed it out yourself in your post:

First paragraph - full membership benefits

Second paragraph - park pilot program benefits

Which do you wish to join?

The park program is also cheaper if I remember correctly. The AMA membership for glow ect is $55.00.

What you join depends on what you plan on flying. If you join under the Park Pilot Program (PPP) you are limited to planes that weigh under 2 pounds and cannot exceed 60 mph. And as it say, electric only. No internal combustion. This membership is $29/year and has limitations to the amount of insurance that is provided.

If you plan on flying planes bigger than this that are not electric, or are bigger than those in the PPP, then you must join as an open member. This is $58/year.

If you are under the PPP and you fly planes outside of their restrictions the insurance will not cover you in the event that you cause damage to property or harm to another person. In addition, not all clubs will allow you to fly with a PPP membership.
