Hi. Looking for Drawings of the ribs, front view and top view on this plane. Found these Drawings on the internet today and printed them off at work. Would like to finish up these drawings. Going to try to build from Scratch, need all the help I can get. This plane has a 60" top wing span. Also need to know engine size.
Thanks

Greg this question would be better suited in the warbirds, kit building, or scale aircraft section, you will probably get several modelers who have quite a few resources on the D7, being that its a warbird and a scale one at that.
if you post a link to the drawings so others can check them out as well, you might get more engine size ideas, my guess would be a 70 4stroke for a model in that wingspan range would be a average to start with depending on your over all weight .
here is the comparable size ARF from Hangar-9 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=HAN4675

I built two of these planes from Rich Uravitch and they had a 50 inch span. Rich called for a .60 four stroke but I use OS .46s in both. These were very heavy little planes the way they were drawn but the .46 pulled them quite well. As fly stated, a .70 four stroke would probably work out very well in the size you are wanting to build. The full scale had a water cooled V-8 as I recall so it the model didn't come out as tail heavy as a round engine Bipe but it still needed some lead up front. The four stroke may be the answer to that little problem. Have fun with the build, they are pretty straight forward planes.

I just went in and took a little look, some good planes in there. The D-7 is showing 40ci but they mean it's a .40 size plane so there is your engine guide line. I tried to look at a couple of the plans but it goes right to my CD maker and I can't see them before I copy. Not all plans are designed the same!! I will mark the site though and try a down load after I finish the build I have on my bench right now. I spotted a Sukhoi in there I wanted to look at.

I've studied the plans in my Auto-Cad program and there are definitely no rib plans there. The wings have different chords. The top wing has a larger chord than the bottom. The wing tapers in thickness as you move toward the tips from the root. You COULD develop a rib pattern from the wing end-view but would then need to make separate drawings for each rib station as the thickness changes. There are several airfoil drawing programs on the market that would help with this.

Just a little bit about plans. When you have plans from kits they are building plans and do not show any of the ribs or formers, they don't need to, the parts are already cut for you and in the box. Building plans show every part you will need and you cut them out then use them as templates to cut your parts. If you buy these plans from someone like MOdel Airplane News you will also get a copy of the build artical that was published in the magazine. Some help but not a lot.
Some of the free plans you get off the net are just old kit plans and don't do a new builder any good. Got take a look at the plans from the AMA or MAN, these are building plans so you can cut your own kit then build the plane.

Your plane has a 60 inch span but this one http://www.rcmmagazine.com/store/sto...nhiMlYgGw6c239 has just a slightly less span but all the ribs and such will be shown. Price is reasonable too, just not free.
And this one http://www.rcmmagazine.com/store/sto...nhiMlYgGw3l8N6 is only one inch smaller.
Just pick a size or engine.
