Default Hi-Tec RX Mini 6

I have a friend that purchased a new Hi-Tec Mini Six Rx single conversion, auto shift. He has a Futaba 6exap. With the proper single conversion crystal (Hi-Tec) to match the TX crystal will this work. I could not advise him seeing that the rx was single conversion. All of my rx's are dual conversion.

Try it on the bench, Irish. If it works there, well, it works.

He lives in that other state south of me. He does not have a crystal for it and before he buys one, wanted to know if it would work. I guess he should just part with 8.00, buy one and try it like you suggested.

In looking at the descritption of the mini 6, it looks like it will work with his Futaba. What is the differene between single and dual conversion?

Hey Gene,
It will work with the Futaba. I have used this setup before and it does work.

I would caution you that I would not put it into a glow plane. I tried this and I had numerous glitches with mine at range. They claim it is full range, but I was able to bring it back to the LHS that I bought it from and exchange it for a Supreme IIs. I would recommend the Supreme, it is a bit more, but it is 8ch and dual conversion.

The difference between the single and dual exists only in the Rx and it relates to the Rx converting the signal from the 72 Mhz down to the frequency where the Rx decodes the info. It is a common conception that dual conversion is better for larger applications that need the range, but I believe that Berg's 4 and 7 ch Rx's are both single and they are well received.

Just my personal experience with them.
Best Regards,
Curtis
