I just purchased a SUPERSTAR SELECT that is electric powered. Will this be an easy starter plane. The reason I got it was because if I crash it I can replace most of the parts rather easy. I also bought an extra engine, prop, battery and landing gear just in case. And I also got a quick charger. With express overnight shipping (can't wait that long!!) It came to just under $300.
Was this a good decision or will I regret it. And what do you think the chances of me flying it with no help will be?? I do have a decent backround in flight, I just haven't put it to use.

Welcome jacksonjrs!
I'm not really qualified to give an opinion about the EP version(sorry), but I did like the glow-powered version as my trainer. Not certain what your "background in flight" means, but if you've never flown R/C before I would recommend you find a flying club nearby and see if an instructor can help you set up your plane and learn to fly. That way you might not need to use your extra parts...
Good Luck...Len

Not sure what your "decent background in flight" consists of, but if it isn't in RC planes, it won't substitute for help from an instructor. Flight sims, computer or otherwise and even full-scale cockpit time do not an RC pilot make.
The plane is likely a good choice, if there is someone at your local club who has the ability to "buddy-box" your particular radio.
Otherwise, if you insist on trying to fly alone, there is about a 95% chance that you will crash. Your money, your time, your choice.

I also have a SuperStar Select EP with a Piranha Peak Power Charger and man its a great airplane to learn to fly with I learned great with it!!! Just remember go to your club before you attempt to fly it!!!! After I got mine I went out and tried to fly without an instructor and I wrecked it fortunately wihtout any damage. I'm a real pilot and I can tell you R/C is harder sometimes than fullscale!!
Have fun with your plane!

Full scale pilots usually make the worst RC students. They think it'll be simple, and don't want to listen to "toy" plane instructors.

I advise you to join a club too. I followed the instructions on my plane and thought I had all the controls dialed in.
When the guys at the field looked my plane over, I did not have enough elevator travel. They said that I would not make it off the runway with that. You got to listen to these retired folks. They know what they are talking about.
