yeh, just use a hand drill. A drill press is not needed unless you are working for NASA.
Please don't use a drill. I promise the hole will not line up right. I ruined 3-4 props thinking I was a champion and didn't need no stinkin reamer. The hole was never the right size (too big no matter what bit I used since it is straight), and always drilled just crooked enough to where the prop didn't spin true. The reamer is tapered and makes the hole perfect EVERY time. Trust me on this, it's worth the $8.00

the main thing to remember is the shaft size, you really shouldn't use an american thread size to ream/drill out your props when you have a metric size shaft and vice/versa, I have both SAE and metric reamers

Does it have to be a reamer from great planes? Or will just any reamer work?

DONT use a drill if its not a dead straight hole your going to start your engine and there's going to be a lot of vibration. This vibration is going to loosen your prop nut and the prop and spinner are going to be come projectile.
