hi, my first plane was a hobbyzone supercub, it was a great plane but i feel it is time to get a new one. i have a budget of maximum £200 and i dont know what i should get

the supercub is electric so i think i should go wih nitro but what shall i get?

can someone reccommend a plane for me?

Not sure what the going rate is for RTF nitro trainers are on the other side of the pond, but you will probably need a little bit more than 200 pounds. Hopefully some fellow citizens of the Realm will be able to give you some good advice on where to go. You might take a look on craigslist over there. I some times find people selling RC stuff they are no longer using for a good price. You just might find something for the cash you have.

If your into Arfs, the Pulse XT in my opinion cant be beat. I think it will fit into your budget, understanding you have some field equip to purchase. The Pulse is easy to assemble, good quality, and fly's exactly where you point it. I made the usual mods that most recommend for Arfs.

The parkzone trojan gets rave reviews as a 2nd plane after the super cub. You could get it RTF well within your budget. Or, have you thought about modding your super cub? You could go brushless, add ailerons, etc for not much $$.

The Parkzone T-28 Trojan costs about 190 pounds http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk...d.asp?id=23818 I've seen them fly and they do very well. Both people who own them are using them as a second plane after learning to fly using electric trainers.

All are glow powered. A few are RTF, most are ARF, and a few are kits. You can see which ones are available in the UK and which ones fit your budget. I'm pretty sure all will cost more than the T-28.

There is a thread going in the Beginners Forum about the Tiger II ARF or if you wish, kit form for less money. If you want glow, that's a great choice. It can also be converted to electric, but that will take you well beyond your price range. Again, you will need the accessories, necessary stuff to fly, and that will help put a dent in your budget.

Id go for the speed air 40. You can get everything for under £200 with this model providing you have got a 4 chanel transmitter. This is an ideal second plane. I have had mine for 4 years and it still flies like new

I started wit the same setup as you. I bought the SuperCub, and two days later, the flight fairy hit me and I was hooked! I immediatley went to a nitro set up. The initial expense really involves your field flight pack. You can spend allot of money for the"latest nd Greatest" but I recommend starting with the basics. Fuel (15/16%), an electric starter is a must if have if you plans on staying in the sport. A chicken stickwill work fine, but with tempormental engines, you will really grow to appreciate an elecrtic starter. A flight box can be purchased or made. There are plans on ther net to build these. A "multitool" for glow plugs, is a plus but optional. A rechargeable glow plug ignitor (a back-up is nice to have)
and a spare glow plug are a must. I prefe to use a digital mutil meter with D/C capabilities for reading battery life. A hand operated fuel pump is also a must. Most trainer models
that are either an ARF or RTF come with everything you need for the "airplne", but they assume you have everything else to get in the air. As this is like golf, your initial expense are the clubs, but playing the corses are pretty cheap. I would suggest buying a few items perweek and build a quality flight pack that will grow with you. Once you go nitro, it is very difficult to go back to electric. You will most likley get better and bigger planes like sport models, racers, 3-D, ect. A properly built flight pack will grow with you.
Good luck! one thing would highly recommend is a quality (and quantity) of thin & medium CA an CA accerlerator as well as some 5 and 12 minute epoxy. As we all know,
gravity is not our best fiend, but CA can help with those "hard" landings![]
I started with the Hangar 9 Alpha 40 RTF. You can see the plane on their website, [link=http://www.hangar9.com] It came with the radio, servos, engine, and was easily built in about 4 hours. The same is available in a ARF and take about 10 hours to build for the novice. Note in the ARF case, the kit has some "not included but necessary" accessories to complete. These are in-expensive but they do all add up.
