I'm having a hard time deciding whether i want to have a pilot i was leaning more towards a know because they look kind of nerdy lol but it seems alot of people do it so please vote and post any comments.

IMO it depends on the plane. Some planes are just fine w/o a pilot, more toward the sport planes. Now, if you were into Giant scale warbirds, aerobatics, etc. it just looks a lot better to put a pilot in & it would defentily help your score in competitions. It also depends on the pilots preference, wether they would like one in their or not, ultimately, regardless of this poll its still your decision. What plane are you looking to put a pilot into ? BTW - I second what bassfisher is saying about painting the cockpit black.

An empty cockpit just does not look right. If you don't want a pilot, just spray the inside of the canopy black. I enjoy dressing up the cockpit too much not to put in a pilot.

I have to agree with the empty cockpit looking bad in flight. Nothing worst than a fully loaded scale plane flying by with an empty cockpit. I put a pilot in every plane that I have that has a visible cockpit in the air. Good Luck, Dave

I've got some with pilots and some without. I wanted to put one in my 1/4 scale cub, but with the ignition system, two batteries, servo for the choke, I could not find room. Maybe it was that 6v car battery that took up all the space.

If a plane has a cockpit, and you can see inside, I think it needs a pilot of some sort. A WWII plane definitely needs one.

A pilot? He'll just fly off with the plane.

Look, these planes can't fly without someone at the controls! If there is any hint of it being a scale airplane I feel it needs to have a pilot. You might think the pilot looks nerdy; but without them, the airplane flying around looks STUPID!

Standing in a field, peering up at the sky with a small box in your hand is already pretty "nerdy". I wouldn't worry that a small pilot figure is going to make you any more of a "nerd". You're already maxed out on the "nerd" scale anway.

Absolutely need a pilot in any plane you can see him/her. I have a few pilots that have been through several planes and have the scars to prove it!

I haven't flown a plane yet with a canopy yet, but I have seen a few around the field. The only thing I find more annoying than a plane without a pilot is a plane without a cockpit..... The larger Yaks and such with big bulbous canopies open clear down through the fuselage just irks me.... You can't tell me that somone can't build a cockpit and a pilot that doesn't weigh anything significant.....or at least sheet the bottom so you can't see the planes guts....

cockpit is the first place people focus when they look at your airplane, so if you invested in a war bird which looks just like the real thing why not to put a pilot figure as well?
besides canopy is a major pain for many reasons so if you went the extra mile you should have a pilot in, thats my opinion.
doesnt have to be a pilot figure can be some figure from a cartoon or so.

I have a box of these over at my moms house from when I was a kid, I am going to build a cockpit to hold two of em for my tiger. Pilot and RIO I had the idea watching cartoons with my kids LOL. I even have some of the slightly larger good ones.

I know, uber nerdy but its my plane ( edit well I should have some of the good ones, not sure)
