hi, just got another 6ex fsst tx to buddy up with my orginal 6ex fsst so my daughter can start to fly with me.
BUT no matter what I do i can't get the buddy TX to talk with the master TX. I've followed the Futaba instructions carefully, with buddy switched off etc toggling the trainer sw etc but still no luck. I'm using a genuine futaba lead and as you plug it in the buddy's display does power up. Is there a trick i am missing as I am starting to think that the master TX is faulty. thanks Peter

Sorry, I didn't catch it is a 2.4 system.
When you HOLD the trainer switch/button in or on, the student's radio doesn't work the servos of the airplane?

I have had the same issues with my 6ex and trainer/simulator stuff I had no input whatsoever just like you describe. I finally figured it out. The cords do not fit correctly although it looks like it does. My brother was frustrated and pushed VERY hard into both plugs then presto it worked great.
The final fix was to heat the plug on my cord a bit and fit it on the tx ,it expanded a bit and now works great. I hope this helps.
(edit) these were not futaba cords they were GWS but it was the same symptom exactly.

yes thats right when i hold the traniner sw on, on the master TX unit nothing the buddy does is reflected in the target aircraft. The buddy display is powered up when i plug in the cable so there is some sort of connection

On my Futaba 7C, I have to turn the trainer function on. I can also choose what channels they are able to use (In the menu, the channels they can use are "F", and the ones they can't are "N"). Also, if you have the trainer switch assigned to a snap roll, the switch won't work for the trainer feature. If you do have a snap roll assigned to the trainer switch, the trainer feature will not change from INH to OFF. Just turn the snap off (INH), and turn the trainer option from INH to OFF (ON when the switch is pulled). I hope the 6EX and 7C are similar enough that this does the trick.

Hmmm, The cord is making a connection to power the student TX...
Look on the plug end of trainer cord leads, there should be 6 pins each end .... make sure none of the pins are bent.
*EDIT*
Good call Bones, that was my first thought, but the 6 doesn't have that feature.

It actually depends on what 6ex radio it is, the 6exap you just plug in, 6exas an 6exah you have to turn the trainer function on I had forgotten about some of them being that way.

I read the manual for the 2.4 6ex it says the failsafe settings, if both teacher and student are using a 2.4 ghz 6ex have to match or it will not work. something for you to check into at least.

You have to turn trainer function on for each model in model memory that you want to use it on. I have this transmitter and the default is off for trainer mode. It tells about this in the manual.
