Hi guys. Ijust rebuilt the tail on my uproar, Iran out of balsa so i used a old yard stick Ihad laying to make the TE. My question is, Icut the slots for the new hinges, will CA hinges glue into the yard stick and hold? I know the yard stick is a harder wood then balsa so Iwas'nt sure it they would hold.

As long as it's a snug fit, it'll work fine

I wouldn't trust it without using the thick CA which would form a reasonable joint not reliant upon the CA being absorbed into wood as it d oes with balsa

<font size="4">NEVER </font>use <font size="4">ANYTHING</font> but <font size="4">THIN CA</font> on CA hinges!

The whole thing with CA hinges is that the CA has to wick... soak into.. the hinge as well as the wood it is inserted  into.  This makes the bond between the hinge and the wood.  If you use thick CA, it will NOT flow into the slot and get to both the hinge and the wood.  IT HAS TO FLOW into the slot.  Thick CA will not do that.,  It will just settle at the base of the hinge and not soak, or wick in.

I agree, don't use anything except thin CA.  Also since the wood is harder, it will take longer to harden. 

Thanks guys, It did work, but it took a little longer to set. Ithought it was'nt going to work, took longer then it normally does with balsa. but them seem solid now. Thanks again. Oh Yea. Iused thin CA. Ialways use thin on CA hinges.
