Third day flying my Tiger 60 with TTPro .61.
One other guy at the field so I could hear my plane and practice approches...
What a blast! This is so much better to fly than the High wing trainer I was flying...
I extended the rudder abit from the plans and I was doing great stall turns. Much more rudder control..
A good cross wind that would have me concerned with the high wing, I hardly noticed with the tiger.
Got up high, turned into the wind and tried to stall it. It just hung there in the breeze. almost as good as my easyglider...
Dead stick a couple hundred feet up right in the middle of the field and I floated it right right up to my feet.
The other great thing is the TTPro .61 is running great. Much better than my TTPro .36 ever ran.
Its sooo Muchhh better when your engine is reliable...and idles well.
Wow, nothing has to be fixed! Ican put it all away until I'm ready to fly again. I havent been able so say that in a while...
I think this Tiger 60 will be a great 2nd plane!
Thanks
For all your help.

I just finished my Tiger 60 and flew it this past weekend. I cannot think about how may Tigers that I have built over the years, but they are one of the best flying planes out there. I really like the way you have yours covered, it is really sharp. Good Luck, Dave

Nice Tiger I been flying mine for about 6 years now love it. Had to hook up the flaperons for landings, but have put endless flights on mine. To me one of the best 2D or 3rd airplanes out there.

Well Steve, it is one of the top choices for a second or third plane for a reason and I think you understand why.
Most the time I would say some smart muled thing about how ugly they are but your plane would prove me wrong, it is perhaps one of the best looking Tigers I have ever seen!!! Mater of fact it is just one of the better looking planes Ihave seen shown in a very long time. Good choice of plane and engine combo too.
Dang that is a good looking machine.

I had a blast with my Tiger 2, after soloing, I started assembling mine, and as soon as I had it finished.( about 2 weeks) I took her to the field. To my suprise the guys took me up on the buddy box, after a few flights, I was on my own again. The Tiger is a very forgiving plane. I have since passed it on to a young pilot who is all but ready for his first solo. I can't say I don't miss her , but she went to a deserving young man, and I get room for another plane. Hmmmmm can ya say GP Ultimate 160 for Fathers day, and then ask Santa for the DL55 for it. This hobby sure is addicting

Tiger 60. My second plane, and I loved it (past tense.. I sold it and, to my knowledge, it still flys in spite of the rough handling I gave it).
It was a terrific second plane. It took all of the beatings I could give it and still flys!! In fact, I was going to go into Pattern flying, and my "instructor" suggested that I use that plane for my entry level flights in Pattern, it was that good a handling aircraft.
Love the tiger series. I now have the Tiger 120 and it too flys like a "tiger". Great series of aircraft.
I have two other Goldbergs in my "hanger". I have their Protege as well as their Skylark 70. Both are great performers and fly just great. In fact, the Skylark is probably my most favorite plane.

CGretired and other pilots at my field reccomended the Tiger 60 so I built it as my third plane.
right now it is on the workbench again getting a pull pull rudder and some other updates.
I started out with a .61 and it flew great. but it came out very tail heavy. I put a .91 in it and
now it's unlimited vertical and awesome.

Mine was also very tail heavy. ASP 75. When I just want to relax and float around, out comes the Tiger. Or, if it is a little windy, out comes the Tiger. Solid as a rock. Even for dumb thumbs like me. Enjoy

Love my Tiger!! I could not agree more. I built mine 4 years ago and I still fly it regularily and it is one of the best flying, mild mannered planes in my fleet. I have a Tower Hobbies .75 in it now and perormance is spectacular. A keeper for sure.

I had heard they might be tail heavy and was very surprised/happy that it balanced right on the money!
I did mount the TTPro .61 as far forward on the motor mount as I could. AlsoI put the battery under the fuel tank which moves it forward.
With this I did not have to add any dead weight.
The Battery is a problem though as I would like easier access to it.
I may try moving it back into the wing area with the rest of the stuff.

Would flaperons just be both ailerons down at the same time?
and would spoilerons be the opposite? both ailerons up?
What would these settings do to flying?

Flaperons / spoilerons are synthetic flaps / spoilers that use the aileron control surfaces to mimic dedicated (flap / spoiler) control surfaces.
They have the impact of increasing drag, slowing the plane, changing the pitch slightly (might need to mix elevator), and increasing / decreasing lift (and stall speed).
If you happen to have a DX7 radio (and what great luck that you do) then you can set them up easily.
To use them safely the planes ailerons must run nearly all the way to the wing root (which they do on the tiger) or you risk creating very undesirable stall characteristics (tip stalls before root).

I didn't fly the Tiger II but owned a Tiger 60. It was a dream to fly.
I now own a Tiger 120. It flys as good as the Tiger 60, if not better. It's not an extreme aerobat, but it is just as smooth and even tempered as anything you can imagine. Mine is powered by an OS 1.20 AX.

Steve,
Great looking Tiger! What's the pilot? Mine is Capt. America. Thought that was appropriate for a RWB Tiger which just happened to maiden on 4 July 2008.
