Default fuel inside the fuse...

alright guys... i need a little help here... today while fueling my airplane up (for flight #2) i noticed fuel running out of my fuse... i automatically knew something was wrong, so i sucked all the fuel back into the jug and quickly took the wings off... i discovered that one of my fuel lines had broken inside the fuse right at the tank... while fueling up, i was letting fuel enter the fuse...

i grabbed LOTS of paper towels and soaked up as much fuel as i possibly could, but am certain some of the balsa got soaked...

what is the best way to dry up this compartment?

i bought this airplane completely assembled and ready to fly... have been flying it now for close to 2 years and NEVER had a problem... BUT, i didnt inspect the fuel tank compartment very well and noticed today that its not completely sealed with epoxy...

any hints you guys/gals can give on soaking up fuel out of the balsa would be awesome...

For a fuel compartment, I would fill it up with kitty litter and let it sit for a couple of days. Then if needed a little K2R would finish the job. Good Luck, Dave

I've used baby powder. Seemed to do a good job.

Also, two quick coats of clear butyrate dope will fuelproof the wood. Dope is one of the lightest paints you could use. I've even used 2 hour epoxy spread as thin as I could get it. For fuel proofing I think all you need is two good coats of Dope for that occasional tank leak. Hasn't happened to me yet. But it could happen.
