Default which one?

I am going to be buying new batteries for both my plane and my tx. I've been using the batteries that came with the model when I bought it used and i'm starting to lose faith in them. My question is(I havent really learned that much about batteries yet) Which kind and size would be the best to put in a tower trainer 40. and where can I get a new rechargable pack for an airtronics vg400 tx?

thanks

The stock batteries are fine, especially if you haven't upgraded chargers. Why are you losing faith in the ones that came with the system?

I have bought my last batteries from dealers on Ebay. For your plane, an 800mah 4.8 pack is all you need for the RX, and a 600 or 800 MAfor the TX. The NIMH batterys havea lot more capacity and the same or lesser costthan the nicads and canbe charged on the wall wart that came with you TX. You do have to becareful to not leave the packs on the charger for to long, if they are starting to get warm to the touch, callit good at that point. Don't plug in on and forget it for a couple days. They don't take kindly to that.

My TX batteries ar a couple years old now and aredoing just fine. I last charged my TX well over a month back and had one flight on it. I just turned it on and its at 9.8V now.It has a 2300 mah NiMh with a 3Epower brand. My reciver batteries now are 2500mah and Dahann brand. The rx batteriesended up at $10 each including shipping. The TX was somewhare around $12to $15 .Even though my TX battery had a "universal" plug on it, I had to splice a Futaba end to the batteryleads. THe RX batterieshave a standard plug, like afutaba J with thebladecut off.

I have been happy with those batteries from a performance view, and extreamly happyfrom a costview. Both a TX and RX battery of higher capacity than stock batteries for aboutthe price of a stock 600ma receiver battery.

I personally stay at or below 1800 mah in the AA size NiMH as a battery expert said that they are less fragile internally compared with the higher capacity cells.

If you have only used NiCADS and rely on a voltmeter to alert you to the low battery/time to stop flying time do be aware that NiMHcells hold their voltage right to the end then you get a very short period of time when it drops rapidly. In my case I have my tranny alarm set to 9.3 volts and get less than 4 minutes to shut down. In other words if it beeps I land on the next circuit and shut the engine down on the field immediately.
