dont drink and fly or talk on the phone and fly (guilty) or watch someone else fly while flying.
the few times i had to talk a call while flying were not pretty. your brain can only do one thing at a time, you can either talk or fly. the only way to do both is to talk for a few seconds, then get the plane level again then talk for a few seconds and keep switching back and forth. i dont do it unless i have to and when i do, once i answer the phone i tell the person to wait a min while i land the plane.

I don't think most people fathom the extent of the damage that these planes can cause but I guess if a true knuckle head getting in a car drunk figures a 3000 lb auto won't do any damage then a 10 lb plane is certainly nothing to worry about.

I was at said event for 3 days and nights. I did not see one guy drink and fly. It would not be allowed to happen.
Way too much assuming going on here.
Is it impossible to have fun without beer?

Some finished flying for the day and opened beers for sure but none were flying drunk.

I went to a fly- in ( not a a fly-in just a group of guys in a field). There was no club just a group that started as a forum. I went with a club member who is a member. He told me that they were a parting group of people. When we got there, it was a very large group of people all from different parts of the U.S.A in the field. I had noticed that the people beside us were drinking and flying. The first thing that pop in my head was the sign at my club that says '' NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED.'' Has the day goes on, I notice that large number of people were drinking. No body was vomiting or anything, but just causally drinkin a beer and talkin. Not very body was drinking ( me and my club member including), werent. I'm not gonna say the forum cause some of ya'll might belong to it. Overall it was very nice, amazing flying, great people, all who were haveing a good time. What do ya'll think of drinking and flying.

. I don't understand why you need to drink at all but to each there own . I get high flying my airplanes . Just because no one was vomiting doesn't mean they weren't drunk . If I have $1500's in the air i'm sure as heck not gana be buzzed . You crash a plane into someone while intoxicated it would still be manslaughter just as it would be driving a car . I used to party but I guess you get smart in your old age , especially when you have a lot to loose . I also don't want a room-mate named Buba [sm=drowning.gif]. That money they spend on beer i'll spend on a servo or fuel .

That is a group I avoid like the H1N1, not the group you want to cross. Good luck with that.
Some people think they can get attention by starting threads like this...What purpose could it serve but to make this douche, er..excuse me this person feel "big" by trying to get people in trouble for doing something that is perfectly fine...
If it is not for you, then fine..don't do it..but most people have enough brains to keep this kind of crap off the forums, as it just makes you look like an ass..
Sure wish I could have made it...I would rather be in the midst of a HORDE of Bro's drunk or not, then to try and stay alive at a freaking warbird CJ event where old coots and newbs try to fly as fast as they can with the reflexes of a retarded sea turtle..
I can imagine that the doofus that started this thread is going to really not ever be invited to attend, whether flying or just spectating, any event there again.

I did notice the beers taking affect when you gota guy trying to do a wheelie down the runway on a golf cart( with peole on the back for weight) and another guy trying to do a wheelie on a four wheeler. ( no body was flying at the time but they were tearing up the runway[
]. I wished I could have seen some of these pilots with out the beer because they could fly. I guess one thing did come out of this was when they crashed, they were still happy and just picked up what remained of there plane.

My point has already been made. You have posted False information, which has been backed up by many, and you were only there for a few hours of a several day event.

Don't post false information. The event was held on private land. The golf cart driver hosted the event and helped prepare the runway on his own time; the guy on the fourwheeler doesn't even drink and they all had been wheeling the golf cart and four wheeler the whole event. Had nothing to do with beer, just having some fun with fellow pilots, who said you had to fly to enjoy yourself. Its one thing to discuss drinking/flying, its another to assume things about people you don't know.

I got back into R/C to help me quit drinking! Almost four years and not a drop of alcohol. Can't count the gallons of Nitro! I think that if the fun and thrill of flying ain't enough for you sober you need to find another hobby.
