Default 480-size, 960Kv outrunner PLANES?

hello all,

I got the Parkzone F4U corsair awhile ago, loved it! However took a nasty crash bustin to pieces (after many many survived crashes), but all electronics are still good! I don't want another Corsair as i can't find it in an ARF version.

It came with a 480-size 960Kv outrunner, 30 amp ESC, 9x6 prop, and i used 11.1v 1800mA & 2100mA Lipos (I have 6 batteries of this capacity so I'd like a plane that can use these Lipos). I'd really like to use this equipment in another plane, but i have no idea what Arf's are out there for this particular setup.

I'm confused as to the the difference between a 480 960kV motor, a 480 950kV, and I've seen 480 1260kV motors. What is the difference? Anyone? In lamens terms, no electrical engineer talk please...lol.

I would like another foam plane since my Corsair took quite a few beatings before its final flight. But I would like to know my options for other planes that could use this setup.

Any explanations would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Also any suggestions for planes that you know of that this setup would power, would be appreciated!
HELP!

Thanks in advance,
-Kevin

If you multiply your battery voltage by the Kv rating of that particular motor you will get the max RPM (unloaded or without a prop) that that motor is capable of. Also the lower Kv motors tend to have more torque for spinning larger props.

so i have no idea what planes need what rpm. lol. sooooo what type of flying or what type of plane would the 480 960kV w/9x6 prop, 30amp esc, and 2100 lipo setup be best with ? and ideas for a the perfect plane to match this up with?

btw, would this setup work well with the GP Flightflex Yak55 or GP flightflez U-Can-Do ? or would it be too much or too little power?

While your gear will fly those planes it would take some modification to install it. Those planes utilize 370 inrunners with gear boxxes. So your outrunner would require different mounting proceedures that you would have to make up. I have an Eflight Mini Edge 540 with pretty much the exact same set up you have but it is a balsa-monocoat plane and you indicated you want a foamy and I know very little about foamies as I do not really like them.

Here are some that call for your set up or close to it but may not be foam. The bottom two would be the best 3d performers. I am guessing by the planes you mentioned that that is what you are looking for. You would just have to get a different prop.

Your 480 will be more powerful.

Take a look here:

http://www.gobrushless.com/kb/index....01_-_Chapter_1

for a basic explanation of electric motors. This is pretty a pretty thorough discussion starting with a basic explanation of brushed motors, then going into some pretty thorough detail about brushless motors.
