The manufacturer of those bearings is not proud enough to stamp them with his initials like SKF or INA and it may be for a good reason. They could be made in China. In the future get a name brand set of bearings. They cost a little more but are well worth. Dan.

Since were talking bearings, can someone explain the difference between an ABEC 5 and ABEC 9 to me?

Bearings are simple to understand !! You have a bearing (Ball) in this case. A Cage (plastic or Nylon) and races.
The inner and outter races are just that !! thay are what the balls race in !! one on the inside, and one on the outside !!
Crank on the inner and engine case on the outter !! The cage is to keep the Balls spaced in the appropriate location that the bearing designer wanted !! The bearing has come a long ways since the Model T days and the old Babbit poured rods and mains
but as crude as they were !! The hand poured and hand scrapped (fitted) babbit bearings are still in use today !!
Dale Senior Mechanic A.H.T.D. What a mechanic always hates to see is a race, spin in what ever it has been pressed into !! I.E. in this instance, The case or the crank !!

The two eby dealers sell "branded" bearings. My thoughs exactly about not showing the brand on them.

Ain't that the truth. If we spin a race in the case, the case is toast. Probably the same for the crank as I've never seen enough meat on the bearing surface to allow it to be turned down and sleaved. When I used to work on the big stuff, on more than on occasion, we had to torch the bearing off and then take the shaft to the welder and they would lay up enough metal on that we could trun it down to size again. A good welder would go at it lke tightening head bolts, and we usually ended up with a shaft that was straight. The newer welders would usually give you a corkscrew back.
