what is the better motor

I haven't owned a ST .75, but I had a Tower .75 and it was a great engine! It never failed to start, and I never had a dead stick with it. Seemed like it had plenty of power too.

I haven't owned a Tower 75 but I had a Tower 46 that I couldn't wait to get rid of. I have a Super Tigre 75 and I'm pretty satisfied with it but if I had it to do all over again, I'd buy the OS75, which I have one of that I haven't installed yet. I'm just pretty sold on OS. I've been flying RC since 1980 and I have over and over again been so pleased with OS. Yes, you pay a bit more for them but they fly great right out of the box and in the long run they prove out not to be so expensive because they go forever. I had an OS45FSR that had been stored in a box for 18 years.........I had flown it on an original Midwest Sweet Stik. I moved and packed everything up and let it stand for awhile. I was flying other things but the 45 just sat for a long time. I took it out of the box last year and mounted it on the same Sweet Stik and took it to the field without seeing if it would run. I hit it with the starter and it did not go around once before it started and flew well. You just cannot beat OS......................PERIOD!!!!

The Tower 75 is a great engine. If you do some research here, you'll probably find that the reviews of the Tower 46 are about half good and half bad. If you look at the reviews of the Tower 75, however, I think you'll find about 90%+ are good reviews.
The only complaint I've seen is that they are difficult to shut off. I've had two of them, and when you close up the carb, they go down to a sputtering idle, and only shut down on their own about half the time. The other half of the time I just put a finger over the muffler/exhaust outlet and it dies right out. Its never been a safety issue, since the sputtering idle is doesn't provide enough thrust to keep the plane rolling on the ground.

pkh,
that's one of the things I found fault with on the 46...........it wouldn't shut down if you had it adjusted for good idle, good high speed, and good transition. You had to throw a rag in the prop to stop it. I called Tower about it and they told me "that's just the nature of the beast". There are plenty of good engines out there.........mostly OS........that will idle good, run full open good and transition good with out having to have a rag handy to help stop it.

I have the ST75. It's been a good engine for me, I have it on a gb tiger 60, it does'nt have unlimited vertical, but is plenty for this plane. It is easy to tune and always starts. has'nt dead sticked yet. I dont have a TH75 but I've heard a lot of good about them.

I several of each, including Magnums and O.S.'s too.
Between the SuperTigre and the T.H. engine... the Tower Hobbies .75 is a better buy, and easier to tune.
Once broken in, you'll never have to think twice about it.
Both MAY be made in the same factory too, but the design is very different.
The ST is a bit infamous for mid-range or idle problems ( you get one or the other ).

I have about a dozen ST engines some are the new ones most are the older ones. They are a little difficult until you get them broken in after that they will last forever with proper maintenance and care. The TH 75's have a but load of power but the ones I have used and had experience with had overheating issues and did not hold up as well over time.

I have a Super Tiger 45 abc. It has been one of the best engines I ever had. It starts in a couple of flicks, idles perfectly and has heaps of power. It is now about 13 years old and still as fabulous as when I bought it.
