I recently came into possession of a used Hanger 9 40 size Super stick. Can anybody tell me what size screws are used to bolt the wing on? It didn't come with any and the manual doesn't specify it. Thanks to anyone who can help me!

The wing mounting bolts for that plane nylon 1/4-20 x 1-1/2".
You can download the manual for your plane here:

Sorry about that. Here is the manual for the Super Stick.

It doesn't specify what the wing bolts are in this manual, but I'm going to guess that they are the same. 1/4-20 bolts are a pretty standard size for wing bolts. If you're not sure take the fuselage to hardware store and find the bolt size that will thread into the wing bolt mounts.

Man, you guys need longer uprights on your safety starting benches. Yikes!
BTW, I have been looking at these Sticks for a while now. My daughter has a radio and engine in a SPAD trainer that hasn't flown all that well. After she solos on my trainer, I'd like to get her flying a stick. The new Ultra Stick 40 is a really nice looking plane. Do you think it is worth the $50 extra over the Super Stick. I'm not crazy about the Super Stick's cheap covering, or the way the wing bolts on, but other than that, how is the Super Stick?
And I know somebody will tell me to scratch build an Ugly Stik - I've done it before, and am not interested in doing another one right now.

I had the 60 size Super Stick for several years. I had several different engines on it. It was made into the taildragger version.
The bottom line is that it is on the heavy side due to the aluminum motor mount.. Other than that, the covering is the least of your problems. I changed the wing bolts and that was a none event afterwards.
I've had a half dozen Ultra Sticks. They are a superior plane but for sport flying, the cost difference is probably not justified.

Thanks for the input.
