Nice Outing with Grandson

My grandson (just turned 10) has shown interest in flying so this summer I've promised him a once a week lesson/outing. We've chosen to do it early in the morning before it gets hot as he has baseball practice almost every evening. It also allows having the field alone without distractions. The first was yesterday though he has flown on the box on a couple of other occasions, the last of which a few weeks ago where he showed marked improvement over the first time a year ago. He flew three times on the box, taking it off the third time with only a slight bit of coaching to cut back the climb rate to wit he responded very well. He lost perspective coming out of too sharp of turns (perhaps three times) and let it get out too far and lost perspective a couple of times but other than that showed basic mastery of flight, even enjoying several loops on the last flight.
The second flight was disciplined figure eights where he did exceptionally well keeping the turns gentle and holding altitude and staying in close enough to keep perspective. About half way through the third, he confessed exhaustion from the concentration. Albeit no doubt part of it was stress had tired him, he was also wanting to revel in having taken the plane off. He was a proud youngster and excited when telling grandmother and parents.
The plane is a Sig LT-25 with a Saito .30

That is great.... I also am involved with 2 grandsons and a granddaughter. One grandson wrote a paper for his class (high school) about how to fly a remote control airplane. I read it and was amazed, he did listen while he was on the box.

Thanks for sharing that great experience for both of you.
He will be flying solo in no time.
My son started practicing at 8, and he needed just few days to master those four channels.
Congratulations and best wishes!
