i pulled the old trainer out of storage today and i am pissed, i have 2 holes in the main wing section[
] thank god there is no damage to the frame, but i am going to have to re-coat the wings. i have never used this stuff b4 but after a few lessons from youtube i recon i could do it. i just have one question, do i have to pull the old coating off first, or can i just stick the new coating straight over the top of the old stuff? thanks in advance

Try packing tape. Its a trainer.
Depending on the size of the holes, you can also just use covering to patch over the holes. You might want to confirm what brand of covering was used originally. If you use a higher heat range covering like monokote over the lower heat range coverings like ultracoat or aerocoat, you can melt holes in the original covering while trying to shrink the new covering. Ultracoat and Aerocoat on top of Monokote is fine.
Covering isn't hard. Don't let the hype stress you out.

I will go with the packing tape but for a longer term fix there is 3M tape used for fixing greenhouses that is UV resistant. It is available in wide rolls and is ideal for fixing covering holes. Just clean the wing with acetone and stick the tape on. If possible extend the repair to lap around the le but I have fixed a few holes and providing you get the oil off, the tape never moves.

I would just tape the holes if they are only small. If they take up more than the space between 2 to 3 ribs then i would concider re covering

ok sweet... thanks for the replies. i will go ane get some tape from work today, but after a few more flights i still want to re-cover it, it might only be a trainer, but i still want it to look good.
i dont know what brand of covering is on it now, its a pheonix classic, what do they use?

Tower uses Mono and Horizon uses Ultra. Most all others are covered in mystery covering unless stated. If you clean the patch area you can use Ultra on most any covering. If your going to recover it anyway don't worry about it. No one expects a trainer to look good anyway so tape is the best answer. Fly the trainer until the covering falls off anyway, that's what they are for.
