Xoar props are very light. But that also makes them a bit fragile. If you get off track a bit and into the long grass, your prop is gone. I only know this because I have an airstrip cut into my pasture and it has happened to me. I still use the Xoar props, but you need to be aware of that issue.

I like xoar props for my electrics because they seem to pull a little less amps, but have really good thrust characteristics. I like apc for nitros because they take more of a beating. IMO. Don't get me wrong xoars are good for nitros, but I tend to beat on them a little harder.

I went from APC to Xoar. APC is great because they are durable as stated above. Ive switched to Xoar because of the faster spool up being that they are lighter for 3D. They also pull really well. Try them both, but APC props arent bad at all. I use them as my back up if I break my Xoars until I get new ones in.

If still a beginner and find yourself nicking props often, stick with the APC for a bit so you wont find yourself replacing props.

master air-screw nylon props are by far the most durable..if you are having prop strike problems that would be the most economical route.... for glow engines i prefer apc for everything, speed and 3d .......now when it comes gas xoars are my wood prop of choice

Valid point on the MAS prop. Even more durable than APC.

I've used both, including both nylon and wood Xoars. It is impossible to pick a favorite. Both seem to work well for certain applications.

I recently tried a 14x8 Xoar on a plane that I normally use an APC 14x8 on. I like the APC better. I had another plane where I liked the Xoar better.

Same goes for other brands too.<br type="_moz" />

Only props from Xoar I have tried are 18 x 10 and they are superb. Probably will replace my ProZingers through attrition with all Xoar. The finish is nicer and, so far, they are balanced right out of the wrapper.

I like APC for my 2-cycle glow engines. I've been runing Zingers in my .70 4-stroke and may try the Xoars in that as well.

I use MAS on trainers, cheap and bullet proof, APC on my glows and Xoars on my gas engines. On one of my gassers I tried the APC then the Xoar, a Zinoah, the Xoar spooled up faster and I got better RPM, the plane flew better with the Xoar. I have never tested any of the smaller Xoars so I can't say how they work on my smaller engines.

Heck yeah, it's a fun way to burn a lot of fuel. If we do enough of it, we discover there ain't no magic brands.

The Xoar's sure do look purdy. Gotta try some of their new ones. Wish they made 3 bladers.

Ichecked the link the 3 blades are coming but only in larger sizes.

Ijust checked my hanger and see that I am currently using a mix of Master Airscrew and Zinger props. I am even using an MA 3 blade on my GWS Corsair. Does it fly the plane as fast as it can possibly go? Probably not but it flies it the way I like and just looks right.

Small world. My H9 Corsair has a MA 3 blade on it also. And it was clocked over 90mph this summer. Wonder what it'd do if I didn't run all my engines on the rich side?

gotta check the link....

Only props that look better made than Xoar is Evolution. Good prices too. And the few I've had a chance to test did well.

Speaking of small worlds..... did I mention I flew a couple of years worth of glider contests in Muscatine?

Rock, excellent, I am a member of the Muscatine club and Iowa City Aerohawks. Idont have a glider but Iam building something called a Rally XP that is much like a glider with a motor. Speaking of running rich, here is a photo of my trainer breaking in a new Irvine 40.

I too, hope they start making nylon 3-bladers, but they do have 3 different types of three-blade wood props already

I believe that the xoar nylon and the evolution props are exactly the same.

One of the guys I fly with lost two fingers and a half of another one, it was a wood prop, don't know what brand but if you stick your hand in a spinning prop they will all remove some favorite parts. When I hand start I have gotten in the habit of putting two fingers more on the front of the blade. I started doing this in the late 50s after I had a 1/2A engine that wouldn't start. I allowed my brain to relax as I was flipping, it fired, I still have the scar too. I do wear a thick leather glove these days when hand starting my gas engines, I should do it with glows too but I don't do it often these days.
