What about instant gradification of getting a email returned. I still don't think they run a tight ship. I'm not upset with the delivery time, what bothers me is no communication. Now come on, you can train a monkey to send a email.

I myself didn't get into this ignorance with Cox thankfully. I don't think its unrealistic for anyone to expect there items in a reasonable amount of time even if you include the days off for the holidays. I have read several complaints here and on RC GROUPS if cox cared about there customers and couldn't handle all the orders then I would think they could hire some temp help. No they LIE to the customers and say I'll email you or call you in a few days when they don't do even this then why wouldn't you expect the customers to get upset. A month to ship something out that is in stock is just ignorant. IMO looks like they are fixing to close the doors and could care less about the customer at this point.

You understand that you're not going to have to cross them off because they're going out of business, right? That would seem to be the entire purpose of a sale with these sorts of discounts. When you buy from someone going under, why do you expect them to hire additional staff? Why do you expect them to try to earn your future business, when they have no future?

The expectations some people have seem out of place given the situation.

Gee you know a lot about this company. Do you work for them? I as a customer, unless so stated. how do I know they are going out of business? If not stated, then I expect customer service. There is an old saying: "I have their paycheck in my pocket" This may be a great company, I don't know. It is just a funny way of doing business, if in fact, they are not going under.

It seems clear to me that they are. Cox was purchased by Estes a while back, and Estes put the last nails into their coffin. The given story on the current products that are being closed out is that Cox wasn't able to find an ARF factory that would produce additional stock in quantities that Cox could afford. Sales volume was too low. So they're either closing up or repurposing their business. Why else would they sell these products at cost or near cost? The Wings line was an attempt by Cox to work its way out of the "toy" part of the hobby back into the mainstream. Given that very few of us had purchased glow ARFs by Cox in the last few years, it's pretty clear that the attempt failed. They've been sitting on inventory. The two Tailwinds that I received have "09/05" stamped on the packing boxes. These weren't fast-moving products.

Another possibility that comes to mind is the new toy inspection laws for lead and other hazards. That goes into effect in February. I have no idea how it affects models, but it certainly is conceivable that a "toy" company such as Estes might have gotten some advice from their attorneys to clear out stock. That is just uninformed conjecture on my part.

Anytime a deal like this comes around you can't expect it to be entirely smooth. It's essentially a gamble - - will you get the product, or won't you? That's just the nature of a sale like this. Some people who ordered the big Pitts biplane have been told that stock ran out. Same with the micro warbirds. Cox has fallen behind on the shipping. I have no idea whether or not I'll get the Christen Eagle I ordered. If I do, that's great. If I don't, it won't be the end of my world.

One of our club members ordered the trainer. He was informed yesterday that it is not coming. No new stock expected "for a long time" because they lost their supplier.

He was told they have limited quantiies of stock number

If you need/want a trainer, or probably anything else, you might as well give up on Cox and move on to another seller. Bad business, bad service, doesn't matter at this point. The plane is not coming.

It's hard to say what their commitment is in North America but they did buy the rights to some prior well established models.

I had originally thought the commitment in this region was just as order taker for a warehouse in the Orient but maybe not?

Seems like they are a little more involved.

I just talked with someone and they checked and said that I in fact do have one of the Giles assigned to me and it should ship out the end of this week or early next week.

Yeah, I just got confirmation on my Giles as well. I got a little impatient in the mean time and picked up a Twister ARF off of HP for $49. That seems better suited for the 52 that I got back on Xmas too. Not sure what I will do with the Giles now. I am sure I will find something to throw in it by the summer though.

I'll plan on mounting an OS 46 AX on mine. It was going into a Great Planes Ultimate 40, but I won't be able to start on that project this year unfortunately. Cox told me that the Giles handles very well and that they flew theirs with a 40 LA at their high Colorado elevation. I would sure like to get some input from others on this plane.

I already have one flying with a Saito .62 in it. It is a small light airplane and with the .62 I have unlimited verticle. The plane fly's and lands great. Your .46 AX should be perfect.

The only change I made to my plane was to mount two Futaba S3115 servos side by side for the ailerons.

I bought the second plane to have around "just in case". Hope I don't need it anytime soon.
