I have never seen a confirmation like this. Sent 3 emails,, non were answered. Tried the phone system and was told to call back at another time. I'm not saying they are a bad company, just have a funny way of doing business.

I removed the billing and shipping information. That was my name and address.

I believe you have no reason to worry.

I have received models from Cox during the last year with no problem at all, including the Tailwing ($60 by then).
Although the process is slow, the models are of good quality and properly protected.

I hope your order will arrive as expected.

Regards!

Thanks, that takes away some of the frustration. It is for my grandson and he is going to put his new Magnum 52 4 stroke on it. He ordered one from Hobbypeople the same day and got it for 74.95 shipped. So he is excited because he already has the engine.

That is the same e-mail that I have got from Cox every time I have ordered something. I have never had a problem with them. I think that is just from the company that handles the transactions for them.

Hummm!!! seems like a funny way of doing business. I replied to that email and got it back as non-deliverable. That is what stated the doubt. I'll just hang in there and hopefully it will show up. I do have a LT-40 kit that I could give him, but it is not a ARF and he has little building experience. So grandpa ends up doing most of it, I think. Thanks for the post

The Cox site has been rather cryptic for me in the emails as well, with the COMPANY NAME substituted for Cox and xxx-xxx-xxxx phone number. So I guess there's nothing to worry about.

Better check out the Giant scale forum about the Cox Pitts M-12. Seems alot of guys on there are having problems contacting Cox also. One guy even stated that they are going out of business.

It's been my understanding that they fill and update orders manually. The site takes the information, but then a human actually checks inventory to see if the item can be shipped. If they can't ship it, the customer doesn't get charged for it. It's looking to me like they ran out of inventory before they could update the site. It's too bad, really. I'll have to make do with what I already have. I'm not going to be paying extravagant amounts of money for my collection.

Gorish,

I ordered my cox warbird on 17Dec08 , got the same bogus email, tried calling the company,
got the run around, tried tracking my or on the cox site to no avail...then 24Dec08 it arrived
just like they said it would in the email. Wasn't happy fretting over my order but it did work out.
I was one of the lucky ones who got everything they ordered, some got batteries but no planes as
they ran out of stock. Your email also says up to 4 weeks delivery so...

Irish,
I did the same as you. I got the same email upon my order. I tried to send them an email via their site this last Sunday and haven't heard a response. I did the same as you with the 52 off of Hobby People and got it yesterday, but no plane yet. I contacted MikeL because he was the one that gave me the idea of ordering the Giles 202 off the site. He said he ordered the monday before Xmas and got his last monday (30th). It is a little disheartening to not get good feedback, but hopefully all will work out, at least we haven't been charged yet. I guess the worst thing that would happen is that I miss out on a great deal for a pretty good ARF, but that wouldn't be the end of the world.
Good luck and report back if you hear anything,
Curtis
P.S. I never got any email confirmations from HobbyPeople when I placed my order through them and was a little worried. I emailed them and a CS rep got back to me pretty quick and said that the emails may have gone to Spam. At least I got SOMETHING from Cox, if not a very informative email.

Yes it did say that for items that were not in stock. However, if you pull up their site and look at that bird, it says IN STOCK. Guess I will just wait and see. Grandson calls every hour and wants to know if it has been delivered yet. Oh!! the patience of a child.

Hummm works for me. Someone said that another company sends out the emails and the company ships the merch. Some posters said that they got their merchandise OK. It was just a funny confirmation email that was sent. No name, no phone #. When I hit reply, I got it back as non-deliverable email. Then you really start to worry.

Still no joy from Cox models. Ordered on 12/26/08 sent email, no reply- tried calling and cannot get by the automated answering machinetelling you to call back at a later time. Not overly impressed with this company.

I used these numbers, and was actually able to get hold of someone:

Main Number: 719-372-9876
Toll Free Order Line:877-269-9235

If they are out of stock on the item you ordered, you won't be charged. Of course, that's of little comfort if you really wanted that Tailwind and couldn't get it.

Well I finally got a real person. Said they had my order, but because of the tremendous volumn over the holidays they were behind on shipping. Said I should have it within 2 weeks. Glad to see they were so busy. Try calling their order line and you can't get in touch with anyone. Maybe I should apply for a position there. Looks like they are short handed.

You may have just talked to The real person. The person cannot get the work done if he is on the phone all the time

What level of customer service are you looking for when you pay such a ridiculously low price for the plane? $35 for a complete built plane, shipped from the other side of the world. If they answered every telephone call, responded to every email, tracked the order and provided a daily update for every worried customer I'm sure the price would be a little different.

Cox models is not the company it was years ago. They don't manufacture anything, in fact I seriously doubt they design anything themselves either. Someone simply bought the Cox name and logo, put up a website and market whatever planes they can get very cheap, like overstock and liquidation sales.

I guess I was looking for the level of customer service that should be expected from any buyer. They (cox company or whoever they are) decided to open the doors and do business. They know what they can sell the product for and still make a profit. If they don't improve their customer service they shall fall by the way-side. Now if they are selling the product to cheap, then they need to increase the price. People don't object to high prices, they object to substandard quality. I can't answer that part until I see their product.

There have been some unrealistic expectations at play here. This is an importer that was primarily set up to distribute to other retailers. They're closing out their product lines. Handling many, many orders by individual customers isn't how they're set up to operate. That much should be obvious to anyone who takes the time to look at the situation.

Instant gratification (and the expectation of it) is all well and good, but it's just not realistic here. Especially for those that were late to the party. My order that I placed in mid-December went just as it should have. My order placed after Christmas has been delayed, which is what I expected. The sale was spread through a great many forums during that time and many people placed orders. Cox was closed down for the holidays. This is the result, and it's not unexpected.
