Crashes are all part of the game. If you don't want to break them, don't fly them.

Oh well, I was overdue :D

Boy, when you fly airplanes you really like to get in there and gets your hands dirty, don't you?

RE: Minnesota Fun Fly?

I don't know what to feel the worst about.

Iwent to the Fun-Fly today. It was a great time.

I got to see Mike fly his Ultra Sport.

Ifinally got to see my Ultra Sport and Hog Bipe fly.

The sad news. Igot to see Mike's Ultra Sport go in. And my Ultra Sport go in. And my Hog Bipe go in.

I actually feel worse about Mike loosing his than me loosing mine. Iknow Mike put a lot of work in building it. Iknow it'll be a while before he can get the time to build another.

Both Ultra Sports are total losses.

Mine?Ibought the completed plane at TCRC Auction in 2008. Ialways considered it a "test bed" for the electrification. What was the structure, etcetera. What to do when Ibuild one from scratch with the intended goal of electrifying it. While theoretically it's fixabale, Inever felt it was "right."measurements didn't add up, like one wing half was longer than the other.. or somthing. Icould never put my finger on it. While others offered to take it off my hands and rebuild it, Ididn't give it away, I didn't want to curse someone else with a plane that "wasn't right.'

My Hog Bipe is repairable. At least that one flew pretty decent while it was in the air. Whether Ifried an ESC, or whatever, don't know. No Postmordem yet.

I am still very intersted in trying to repair it and let me have a go at it, but it is your baby, and you decide what you want to do.

It was a great day other wise, Mike got some work done, I talked too much and flew too little and got a little sunburned, but saw some beautiful planes and some great flying and good friends, what else is needed in life :)

You can blame me Mike, I made you bring your ultra sport. I only took a couple of pictures, but here is one of Mike and his dad, his dad is a very good pilot.

I wish I had more time to fly myself. It would have been fun to get together with you guys. Spet 19th is the TCRC fall float fly, which will be a lot of fun. We should plan something for September or October besides the FF.

I know, I have only been to the flying field 2 times in July and the last time I spent about 2 hours trying unsuccesfully to get 2 different engines running well enought to get them to the runway [>:]:([:@][:@]

I better get my plane ready for the float fly [:-]

I think we need to get an invintation out to a different field in September or October :)

Jon

Curt or others, did anyone see this new possible club? www.westonkarcflyers.com He is trying to start up a club in the western burbs.

Hey Jon,
I hadn't seen that yet. Thanks for the link. I sent him an email to see if I could check out the field. It might be fun to mix it up a little bit.
Curtis
P.S. You better get your plane done for the FF, you can't keep using that as an excuse to not fly on the water.

Excellent! We can't have too many flying fields!

Might be really good for some of you guys not to have to drive all the way to Jordan. (Still a bit far for me though)

Hey MinnFlyer you need to visit good old Michigan and attend the Midwest Float Fly on 9-12/13. Our water is softer than MN.:D:D:D

He does not have a field yet, just starting out, but looks interesting, I just have to make more time to get out to the field and or try to meet some people at Grassfield flying club.

P.S. You better get your plane done for the FF, you can't keep using that as an excuse to not fly on the water.

I know, I know, I knowI have the floats sheeted, I jsut have to finish sanding them, make mounting brackets, and glass them. Maybe this weekend.

RE: Minnesota Fun Fly?

Jon, If you get those things done early, maybe we can go out on the boat and try them out. I just need to finish sheeting mine and gluing the blocks and rear plates on them, then glass and paint.
I think it should be a race to the finish.

He is very excited, he picked up a starter box, a 4* and a thunder tiger trainer and jsut about everything else he needs for $200.00 which he was able to work off. He just got his AMA, got a couple of new batteries and some new fuel, I think we are going to try to buddy box him tomorrow. Oh he got a 15 size float plane.

We might be at the field tomorrow :)

Jon

P.S. I finally got my floats glassed tonight, they should float :)

Good Job Jon,
Can't wait to be out there on Saturday. It seems like I have been waiting for a year for this FF. Looks like the weather will hold out too, so that is great. Anyone else going?
