Hi
I have couple of traxxas and it seems that my truck won't start with ezstart but it starts well with glow plug warmer. So I have couple of questions
1. is my glow plug bad?
2. when i take out the glow plug, plug it into glow plug warmer, it lights up but when i plug it into the ezstart cable, turn on ezstart, it doesn't light up. is this normal? or could the ezstart wire have gone bad?
thanks!

So the EZ start turns over the motor, but the glow plug doesn't ignite. Then you put a glow plug igniter on there, turn over motor with EZ start, and it fires?
There's a short in your easy start wiring. You can get another one for about $5 at the hobby store or just check the wire going from the glow plug back to the EZ start, may be cut somewhere, just splice it to fix.

hi
thanks for your reply
I went to a hobby store and bought the whole harness kit (it was really 5 bucks + tax) that goes on to the truck and replaced it. I even got a couple of new glow plugs (thinking that my old plug was worn out or something). still the same problem, my revo or 4tec won't start but as soon as i disconnect the blue wire and plug in the glow plug warmer, starts it right away.
dunno what to do now... or is ezstart just not strong enough? as i've read on diff. posts, should i just cut off the blue wire and just rely on the glow plug warmer?
thanks

hmmm, sounds like your problem goes beyond your wiring harness. I mentioned the harness because they wear out very easily. Check the wiring in your EZ-start wand. If it has enough power to crank the motor, it definitely has enough power to make that plug glow. Something must be shorted in there.
Sorry you had to buy a wiring harness just to find out you didn't need it, but at least it was cheap.</p>

i have 2 ezstart wand but i highly doubt that both wands went malfunction. hmm maybe the wand was really built crappy.

Just to throw this out. I have had alot of issues with the glow portion of the ez-start system to the point I just don't use it anymore. A glow warmer fires it right up every time.

yeah but forgetting to charge the warmer really sucks. all ready to go but can't 'cuz of the warmer.
I've tried everything so far.
new harness kit
new dynamite thing
clean up the ground wire area
only thing left now is to try a brand new wand but oh well

New wand isn't real expensive, If remembering to charge it is an issue with your glow warmer, I bought a Li-po glow igniter and it holds a charge for a long time. It's not expensive either. Check it out.

the lights on the ez-start hand wand mean nothing. if the ez-start spins but doesnt spin the engine ,the overrunning clutch has oil on it. take the ez-stat off drill a hole in the black plastic, center the hole on the overrunning clutch. spray starting fluid in and it will clean the overrunning clutch, letting it spin the engine.
