Novarossi BX2 SBK01 .21 short stroke 5-port engine

Found one of these modified by Ron Paris for what seems to be a reasonable price. I'd put it in a Jato or something crazy thing like that. Any good? What would be a fair price for one brand spanking new in box still in a sealed bag? Seems to be a rare item; haven't found much info about the engine online.

Ron Paris, the legendary engine modder and guru. No longer with us, but often quoted. It would be sacrilege to put this engine in something so pedestrian as a vehicle from Traxxas or etc. Sell it to someone on RCTech who will recognize it's value.

I've wanted a buggy for awhile, I just happen to have a Jato that I've entertained putting a big block into. The Nova is a bump start engine which I've no bump box for. Certainly nothing set in stone. If someone offered the right price, I'd sell it. Otherwise I'll find a buggy roller and put it in that.

I did pick the engine up. It still has the Paris Racing sticker in-tact. If anyone here wants it, make an offer through PM. Otherwise I'll probably see what I can get on the 'bay.

If I were to hold onto this engine and stuff it in a buggy, what would be a good one to get? Also, what would be a good exhaust for it? I read somewhere someone used a 086 on the non modified version of this engine with good results. Can I assume the same for the modified version?
I know little about the engine and there isn't much info about it on the internet. At least what I could find anyway. Anything anyone could share about it would be great.

Seems as though nobody knows much if anything about this engine. Huh. Well, it's for sale. If it doesn't sell, it goes on the shelf while I keep researching into it.

What's to know? It's a modded 2001 engine. It's value is in it's sentimental value. There's some info on the net about it. Use your Google.

Sorry, I haven't found much information about the Ron Paris engine. Most of what I came across had to do with Piccos. I'll just keep looking. Thanks for the advice.
p.s. I was hoping to get a ballpark realistic value for the engine. I have kept the box sealed as to not interfere with its value. I'd assume its worth more than the non modified version of the BX21 which I found for sale at around $260 at RCmart but is out of stock. I have access to another one of the 5-port engines and also a couple 7-port engines all modified by Paris Racing.

I decided to just keep this engine. I have wanted a buggy for awhile anyway, and why not have a crazy powerful one... Looking at Ofna, maybe a Hyper 7 or Ultra LX variety. I'll source a bump box or build my own. I haven't found any parts for this engine other than I think the new or newer R7 rod will fit but I'm not really concerned about needing parts. I trust the quality of this engine to give many years of service and many gallons of fuel. Any input on exhaust systems?

I’m necro-bumping this thread for a couple reasons. I now have a Losi 8T 3.0 truggy that I got for a smokin price that came with a new pre-2016 Novarossi S21P5XLT long stroke 5-port engine that is modified. I installed a Novarossi 41032 manifold and Dynamite 086HS pipe on it for better top end since the engine is modified. Being a long stroke racing engine, it’s got some qualities that a short stroke doesn’t have and vice versa. Since I have the short stroke baby cousin to the P5, I now have a couple options for my truggy. I was on the hunt for a turbo head for the BX21 engine and found that Novarossi doesn’t make a turbo head for any short stroke engines up until now. The BX21 has a factory standard plug head in it - and Novarossi just happened to have released the BX3 3-port short stroke engine recently, which has a turbo head. So I am going to get the turbo head for the Paris engine so I can use the same glow plugs in all of my Novarossi engines. The Paris engine needs some improvements internally that will be addressed to make it more of a fire breather. The boost chamber will be plugged and not used; I am really hoping it fits the Losi quick change engine mount that is in the 8T. If it doesn’t fit, I’ll get the regular backplate for the BX3. I am all about nostalgia, so bringing this Paris engine to life after an 18 year slumber should be a lot of fun.
Some interesting things to note about the BX3 - it has nearly identical specs to the BX21 with only a few differences. I find that very interesting.
If anyone has anything to share or add, feel free to add your thoughts.

I now have a turbo head that comes on the Novarossi BX3 engine and it’s a direct fit to this Novarossi BX21 SBK01 Paris engine. The BX3 head is .03mm deeper than the factory head, so the compression will be eeked a little higher and with some touching up to the engine itself, it should really scream. Pictured is the standard plug head on the left and turbo head on the right.
