sounds like its ur oneway bearing. if not that then theres somethin wrong with the starter pin or spring in the engine (if ur engine has that?) or maybe even the recoil in the pullstart is broken

It's the one way bearing , take back plate off clean pullstart, bearing assembly with rubbing alchohol, put a drop of light oil on bearing and re assemble. bearing gets gucked up with fuel and dirt, this is a common problem. Chances are it'll work for a while then do it again. Often times it's just as cheap to buy a whole new pull start for the same price as just the one way bearing. Good Luck

Hope some one can help me, my nephew bought a nitro car and had problems starting, did not use and then decided he did want to use it, anyway my partner took it to our local shop for repairs. Despite this the pull start jammed on the 2nd pull and now will not recoil unless you move the flywheel. <div>Is there something wrong with the start, which appears to work fine and recoil once removed from the car or is it something else? Need some good advice as have no knowledge of these cars. Thanks.</div>

If so, then there can be only 2 possible faults:-
1- Faulty one way bearing, thats the bearing within the pullstart..it may even be fitted the wrong way around (the engine should turn anti-clockwise when veiwed from flywheel side)
2- The pullstart pulley is binding with the engine back plate..should there be shims between the engine and the pullstart? Do you have a manual or know what engine/model it is?

Hi, yes exactly that. The car is a Condor Pro model: A3002, sorry cannot see any reference to an engine model. I have an instruction manual which appears to have everything in it except for the pull start. The engine as you said turns anti clockwise.
I can see no reference anywhere to shims etc. What I don't understand is that when he first had the car the pull start was working fine, I think maybe he pulled the start too hard and it would not recoil, but the shop said they had fixed this. I tried it twice, both short pulls, it recoiled the first time and stuck on the second attempt.
I was thinking that maybe something was sticking within the engine itself and maybe just needed lubricating?
Thanks for you help.
