The Thunder Tiger Pro 70 is a riot, I have five of them. I would not say they are as good as a Picco 28 in a monster truck application though, due to their low rpm. That being said, go to you tube and search for Thunder Tiger EK4 or EK 4 and watch some of the crazy power they do have. They are hard to tune and burning a gallon a day is not unusual, another huge plus for the powerful 28s. Thunder Tiger used a really tall tire to make up some gear ration and take advantage of that torque. They actually have a piston ring, run best on 30 percent plus fuel with added castor oil. I use Byrons 33 percent heli fuel with four ounces of oil added per gallon. With two of them running, it is pretty easy to spend 50 dollars a day on fuel. [8D] But sometimes it is an itch that just has to be scratched... BB

Make sure that you have a goal in mind when picking an engine. For instance, I use a Xenon R on-road .21 in a NTC3 car and it hauls azz but for drag racing, I will use a Jammin .28 off-road engine because it makes gobs of low end TQ and HP for the 132' range that I would need the motor to operate in.

Xenon R makes 50 oz. TQ from 25,000 to 40,000 RPM's and peaking at 63 oz. TQ at 36,000. It peaks HP of 2.25 at 36,000 but by 40,000 it is 1.75 HP

Jammin .28 makes 50 oz. TQ from 12,000 to 36,000 RPM's and peaking at 85 oz. TQ at 26,000. It peaks HP of 2.30 at 26,000 and by 36,000 it is 1.40 HP

If the two engines were in the same type of cars and both cars hooked from a dead stop, guess which one would get to the end of 132' drag run faster? This is just my analysis of the two engines that I am dealing with though and just an example to gauge by when shopping for an engine's intended use.

Here's my NTC3 with the Xenon R on it

BTW, I also have a .18 TZ and it is not as fast as the .21 motor is and both are bone stock from the factories. I do like my .18 TZ though and it too has an intended purpose but not for what I want to do with the NTC3 just yet.

These torque and BHP numbers, did you get them from XRC or Nitrodyne.com?

The reason why I ask is because unless they wre both tested on the Nitodyne dyno, the outputs could beway off. For example: a Nitrodyne dyno will as best as posible make the closest readings to real world HP and torque. Another dyno, like the one pobably used by Ed Bridges, actually reads differently and the output numbers are actually much higher than what the Nitrodyne dyno would read.

You're right, the two dynos are different. The Xenon numbers come from EBmods and the P3 .28 comes from ABmods. but you get the general ideas of what I am getting at.

Tell him to strap an engine from an AIRBUS A380 for him to shut-up.

Just FYI, Ed Bridgs is using an X-Dyno for his dyno testing, as is AB Mods. So results should be fairly similar.

Here is the list of X-Dyno users so far:

HPI
HPI Europe
Kingstar (Axial) (although they hardly use it)
Tamiya
Thunder Tiger
Vantage
Orion
EB Mods
Xtreme magazine
Hudy
Richard Anderson (austrailia enthusiast)

Recently:
Kyosho Japan
GRP Italy
AB Mods
And I may make 5 more as I have customers banging down my door, but I need to finish the 50-200cc aircraft engine dyno I am prototying rignt now first.

Thank you MX for the information, and thank you for taking the time to post (during your busy schedule at that). I bid you and Nitrodyne the best of luck in flourishing in the hobby and hope that one day you and Nitrodyne are profitable enough to scale up the productions of X-Dyno!

I did not know that Ed Bridges now uses a Nitrodyne Dyno, I am absolutely glad that another reputable person is now in the same fold as XRC, ABmods, and so forth. (I was under the impression that he used a different dyno for testing and modding some of his older engine, and also when he tested the OS .18TZ, those numbers look very diffeernt from the X-dyno results as tested by XRC magazine).

Regardless I am absolutely glad to see the list of Nitrodyne Dyno users is much much bigger that I ever thought of. Again, thanks for taking the time to post and if you ever have time to, please post more and help us all in our learning of the technical subtleties of our hobby. I personally look forward to any information you could posible provide.
