Default where do you temp you engine??

i go a 18tz im my revo. and when i temp from the glow plug ( top of head) i get 210-230. but if i check on the side of the cooling head next to the head screws i get 260+!!! its making me a little nervous, and the motor runs awsome. so should i disregard the high readings?

I read that temp should be taken from the top of the cooling head, but I want to see what other people say as well.

I always measure mine at the glowplug.....point the temp-gun down the cyl-head hole. The glow-plug temp is pretty constant summer or winter (with the same tune), but the fin temp can really drop on a cold day, or climb on a hot day, so it's not consistent with identical tunes.

I find it odd you got higher temps at the fins than the glow-plug. I normally would get the reverse of your readings.

From the way he described it, sounds like he was reading the temp on the crankcase and not the top of the head.

I have the Losi 2 in 1 temp/tuner and it reads from the glowplug. I have read from the fins(or top) of the head and got much higher readings.
