It will be interesting to see if CEN used the same stock towers on the new Magnum truck. If so, you will have an even larger audience for these towers. From what I can see on the one picture that's posted, they look the same.

For the body mounting none of my stock towers have provisions to mount the posts to the towers. When I received the truck the post were mounted to the bottom of the tower and that is the way that I have always mounted them. All of the diagrams that I have also show them mounted to the lower position. I also believe the lower position would be better to limit some of the stress on the towers.

The main reason that the JT tower broke on me is because the chassis didn't bottom out and all of the force was transfered to the towers. I still think they should of bent instead of breaking. But I soon won't have to worry about that thanks to Dr Honda.

I am glad to hear that everybody likes them and can't wait to get mine.

Allot of the parts look to be the same. Enough to say the whole truck hasn't been re-designed. The chassis, fuel tank, bracing, and laydown servo look to be the only real changes.

I dont use that anymore PJ, I took a really hard hit it, and because the servo was basically being used as a stressed member of the chassis, it smashed it to pieces!.....

Thanks for all the nice comparison pictures.

Poor Judgment, and Azzman…

What does the chassis brace look like? If it crushed a servo… can the brace be made to go around the servo, putting the stress on the mounting points? If you guys want to investigate the possibilities of making a part… start a new thread, and we will see where it goes. Better yet… I’ll start a new thread.

I should mention that the holes for the hinge pins were a little tight and needed some filing to fit properly. I use the optional hinge pins and not the factory screws, the screws fit fine but the hinge pins were tight. It wasn't a problem for me but somebody might think that it is a problem.

Personally I would rather have them a little tight and file fit the part, than to loose.

Was it tight all the way around… or in one direction? (like they weren’t centered) I can adjust the program to open the hole a few thousandths of an inch since those holes are milled to size.

In my opinion it is fine but it was tight all the way around.
I used a 5/32 chain saw file to open it up a little bit. Probably not the best tool to use but it was handy.

The hinge pins that I am using measure 3.97 mm versus the 3.93 mm of a stock screw. My JT tower has a hole diameter of 4.05. The file that I used is 4.0mm. I know that you have the measuring tools available to you but I thought that all of the measurements from mine would help.

Well I though it's time to bring this thread back to life since I had my first run today using the shock towers from ARO (DrHonda)
After a few flips and a few meters drag on the road and another flip which ended up to a head on collition with a concrete wall, the list of damage is down to:
1. ARO front shock towers slightly bend, hard to notice, and nothing a bit of hammering will not fix. Tough they are, I tell you, good work from Tony.
2. Antenna tube broken, easy to replace
3. Upper cap on motor saver air filter broken, some super glue or a whole new filter
4. Front chassis bend, if it wasn't for the foam bumber I would probably be looking for front diff case and who knows what else.

Here is a picture of the truck. Started life as an ST2 by the way.

do u run without a shell, or did u cut one to fit around the pipe?

also - any trouble with the carb linkage working at that angle?

PJ, suprisingly I only broke 2 driveshaft s so far and none of them by running the car. I broke one by overtightening the wheel!!! and another by a hi speed crash right at the corner of a brick wall (that crash also cost me the a-arm and wheel hub).

I run without a shell as I am still trying to tune that hyper engine (nightmare compared to the CEN one), but I can get the ST shell to fit by placing hi on the mounts. I also use a Hammer body by Proline made for Savage trucks. I bit longer and wider but still a nice fit. I'll try to post some pics later.


The carb linkage is working great but I spend a long time to get it to work. I replaced the receiver/battery box to get some clearence, lowered the throttle servo by cutting the plastic posts, rotated the carb and used linkages from whatever I could get my hands on.

I used to run it with the CEN pipe, but it wasn't letting the engine give it's full potential. It's a different beast with the hot bodies pipe, and much louder too.

I should thank you for all your posts, and everyone else too, as all the upgrades are due to the advice I got from the forums. (You don't have to post questions as long as you search and read the threads, hehehe).

Right then, the kids have gone to bed, so I'm off to get the damn thing straightened again.
