FAO:Cen Racing
i just checked my radio and noticed that mine is the old "sanwa dash saber" this radio isnt on your list for exchange... is it simplya case of a different label/name for us in the UK, or is this radio exempt from the exchange scheme?

Judgement,
If that particular radio has our name on it then it can be exchanged. If it is an actual Sanwa radio that is seperate from CEN then unfortunately it cannot be exchanged I've been told. Did that radio come with your kit? Did you buy the kit new? I personally am unfamiliar with that system and our UK packaging.

Yes it came with my Rally. It is pretty old tho, I bought it a good while before the 2 speed was standard fitment. Pics to clarify... or at least there would be if it would let me upload... will try posting them again later...
Oh - it was a RTR by the way, not a kit.
ah... it seems to be working now.

Judgement,
thank you for the pictures, those help me a great deal. I will run those by the decision makers and let you know...no promises though.

Thanks for that, would just like to add that my truck is gaining a lot of interest in the Cen name here on the forum and at my local bashing spots... It would be great if I had a better chance of controlling the thing!
Either way tho, thanks for taking the time to investigate my stone age radio!

I think that the sanwa dash saber radio's are installed in CEN kits by irvine
in the U.K which now they are no longer irvine but Ripmax.

Aah the old dash saber. Man I used that thing for ages, still got it upstairs somewhere. Tell you one thing, the trim adjustments are well better on stick controllers than on wheel ones, in my opinion anyway! Incidentally, bizarre as it may sound but Irvine actuallt bought Ripmax!!! They have retained their separate identities but behind the scenes, Irvine is the daddy!

Judgement,
Unfortunately after running the Saber by "the powers" I was informed that our swap policy mandates that the radio have our logo on it. I wish I had better news for you.

RE: Airtronics / Sanwa MX3 FM 3 CH Radio Swap Program
i can find a cen sticker somewhere i am sure!
not too surprised tbh, but dissapointed as it came with the rally, all radio factory installed, even a pic of it on the box... seems to be splitting hairs to say that it doesnt have a cen sticker on it, to say the least.
did everyone else have a cen sticker on theirs?
...a sticker... ffs...

Nah, mine only had the Sanwa stickers on it. It only had Sanwa stickers because the Fun Factor came with Sanwa rx and servos, no CEN branding at all!!

RE: Airtronics / Sanwa MX3 FM 3 CH Radio Swap Program
No I haven't asked for the swap deal, I was just saying that so that CEN was aware that their UK distributers did not badge any of the RTR electronics as CENs' own, so even though the sawp deal is available to overseas owners, it will not apply to Fun Factor owners as all their electrics say Sanwa.

RE: Airtronics / Sanwa MX3 FM 3 CH Radio Swap Program
Hey Guys,
I just want to clarify my previous statement. The reason that the Saber is not covered is because it is a Sanwa product, that is installed per special request by our UK distributors. That system is independent of CEN and purchased by Irvine from Sanwa. The only connection it has to CEN is at the factory when it is installed. For this reason the Saber radios are treated in the same way that the MX3 radio would be treated. If a problem arises it must be dealt with through Sanwa as opposed to us. I apologize for the confusion and this wordy reply. I just felt that I owed you all a full, detailed explanation of the way these things are processed and why the Sabers cannot be replaced.
P.S. There is a list of radios that can be swapped at cenracing.com
I hope this information helps to clear up any misunderstandings I caused,
Jeremy

Thanks for investigating that jeremy, bit disappointed, but cant be helped. We always get the ****ty end of the stick in the uk, too small a market I guess...
To be fair tho, I dont get on well with the wheel type txs, so was planning on selling the replacement and getting a better stick tx! Hey - u gotta try, yknow!
Bet all u US customers can get spare 11t pinions for ur MTs too, mumble, mumble...

Doda,
You're correct, there are no servos involved in the radio swap.
Judgement,
That makes sense to me. I can't see one good reason not to take advantage of a good offer if its available. By the way, I'm curios as to why those 11t pinions are so hard to find out there. You should at least be able to order them from an online site such as toyhaus.com If I can find a better method of ordering I'll let you know.

RE: Airtronics / Sanwa MX3 FM 3 CH Radio Swap Program
There is a lack of them in the UK, Jeremy. I can get the threaded clutchbell with the 11t and 14t easily enough here, but i have a good few unneeded 14t pinions now! At £10.25 a shot, its not very economical.... she tells me....
I should add that Irvine told me over the phone that the 11t pinion was not a standard part and would have to be specially ordered from the US. I will confess that I hung up on the woman at that point.

Oh man, that sounds like all kinds of fun. Well, I don't have any immediate fix but I do have some info. The part number on the 11t pinion alone (which was actually quite difficult for me to find...and I work here) is FF034. These parts can be ordered online at Toyhaus.com and rcmodels.com but they are not listed on their sites. I am being told that it is possible to call them (I would try toyhaus personally) and let them know what you need and that they can order it for you. I know its an expensive call but you could then order a bunch and be done with it for awhile.

Thanks for the part number on the 11t pinions. What we really need are steel pinions, those of us that run .18 and in poor judgements case larger engines find that the aluminum ones wear out to fast.

CEN Racing!
If the part number is FF034 you should change your site. Because on your site it says that FF034 is wheels 54x22 For Buggy/Rally (2WD-Front) $7.00.
But if you have changed the part number thats just fine with me.

RE: Airtronics / Sanwa MX3 FM 3 CH Radio Swap Program
its a typo on the part number - its FFS034 for the 11t pinion.
yea i could make the call and get a load of them in, but like rolland says, they wear way too fast, we need steel pinions.
personally i am going to try the ofna/ho bao 11/15t 2 speed pinions if i can make them fit.

jadda
Judgement was right, I typed it in wrong. Too much (or not enough) coffee I guess.
I understand the want for the steel gears. Hopefully the Ofnas will get the job done.
