Default 100 or Bust

Hey,
I'm new to on-road cars and is thinking of making 100 mph with the CT4S. I know that the car can do about 70 mph stock but what is needed to make it go 100. Will first I need a close gearing, and I heared that the Gensis first gear will work on the CT4S first gear, but is this true. Also I need a fast motor, and I also heared that you can put a .21 so I was wondering if there is a conversion or not. And if not, I think i was use the o.s. .12 or the epic .18, and since the epic .18 has more hp(1.8 at 38000 rpm), i leaning more to the epic. So I will need all of you help and ideas on this one.
Thanks,
Shawn

Shawn:

We had good luck with race .21 (high RPM) with good results on our project CT4. .21 will be best for this project. .12 does not have enough horsepower and .18 usually have less RPM. However, the epic .18 does sound like a good choice without spending top dollars. We use the stock spurs but drop down the pinions.

I think new era models make a .21 convesion kit.

So if i get the .21 conversion kit do you think the O.S. .21 V-Spec will be good, i hear it can put out a max rpm of 44,000 and about 2.9 hp, but can you get a link because i can not find the .21 conversion kit.

CENs .21 engine mounts - part number CT040 should allow a .21 to fit the ct4. I used them on my funfactor, but found them a little low for my .28. I ended up modifying some ofna adjustable mounts to suit my chassis, not sure if there is enough room on a ct4 for the ofna mounts to be an option tho.

These mounts are the ones that New Era use on their .21 conversion for the Funfactor, I think both the ct4 and the funfactor use the same mounts for small block motors dont they?

Anyway - hope that helps - u have set urself a serious challenge there mate.

if you get two close you will not be able to go as fast the o.s will get you to about 80 or more just remeber you are going to need rpms on your motor that is all you newed to do i put the cen turbo motor in mine and i put both genisis gears on first and second you do need to demmel second out just a tad but a 10 year old could do it and a dremmel kit is only 20 dollars i hit 87 mph's on two different radar guns and we calculated the speeds with a 100 foot pass about 50 times honestly to hit 100 you would prob need a modified 21 capable of at least 50,000 rpm's i was thinking of taking my 4tec motor and puttin it on the cen i have the 2.5r but i know the power band is only like to about 18,000 but i still might give it a shot the cen was the right way to go the only thing about a new motor you need different clutchbell and all and maybe you can get like a 15/20 or more i now cen makes interchangable spurs now so you might want to look into that i might try that and supercharge my motor so i will still have some ponies to make it to about 90

CEN just needs to come out with the 3 speed with the same gearing ratio and then bam 3rd maybe about 15 to 20 more mphs plus they would have more people buying cars after they demolished them lol

u might want to try using a hpi rs4 clutch bell - it will give u the option of using larger pinion gears than cen produce.

The CT040 mounts are the stock mounts for the CT4. The engine that is in there is a big block engine so the .21 should drop in. You might have to do some shimming on the clutch bell.

What I would do is drop the .21 in the CT4 using the stock engine mounts, clutch, flywheel, clutch bell, and exhaust system. Break the motor in and do some testing with the stock setup and then go from there.

I also suggest replacing the stock radio with at least a quality fm system.
