Default Contest: Free 14mm Wheel adaptors (funfactor)

Hi All,

Well as most of you know, I’m starting up a small hobby sized machine shop. And I do have to thank you for helping me get my start with the shock towers. So, to help say “Thanks” I figured I’d give away a free set of the wheel adaptors that I’m making. But… (there’s always a but) Since I need a company logo, and since I’m not a very artistic type of person… I figure I would make this a contest.

The contest is simple… you guys (and girls) make up a logo for me, and the person who makes the logo I like best, will get the free adaptors. (a set of 4)

OK… here’s some info to let you know where my head’s at.

The company’s name is ARO Products. Right now I’m focusing on alloy parts for the RC community. But, I am not just focusing on cars. I have a few RC heli parts on the drawing board, and I actually have an RC Ornithopter in the works. (an RC bird that flaps it’s wings) So… if you use pictures… they shouldn’t be focused on just one area. Although, I wont automatically disregard a logo that is great, but only has a car in it. In other words… do what you want.

The ARO part of the name is something that I’ve been using for a while. My last name is Ferraro. (phonetically it’s close to “4-aro”… get it) I’ve used the 4ARO in my e-mail accounts, and other screen names… so I shortened it to ARO for the company name. (This is just FYI)

Last thing… Any logos submitted during this contest will become property of “ARO Products.” (I just don’t some one suing me for copy right infringement later if I actually use the logo) Submission will be done by either posing it here on this thread, or e-mailing it to me.

OK… that’s enough of that. Let’s be creative people. And remember… if this company grows… you may able to say to one of your buddies, while standing in a hobby shop… “I designed that logo”[8D]

Good luck with the machine shop. I've had a side business for the last 8 years and the extra cash is always good. Plus, speak with an accountant about taxes because a small business can be a great writeoff but there are a few gotchas. Affraid i'm not the most artistic of the bunch, but I will be buying a set of those 14mm adapters and I am looking forward to seeing what else comes out of your shop. You do great work.

Craigb…

This site has a bunch of Ornithopters on it.

http://ovirc.free.fr/ornithopteres_hobbytechnik.php

As far as the helis… there isn’t anything in particular… just a typical pod and boom style will be fine. Also, I guess I shouldn’t have said “pictures” in the post above. It should be more of a graphical representation. (you know… cartoons)

But, since you asked. Here is my Shogun.

And here is my Big Boy... a Predator. (the shogun, and my T-rex are the ones under it) The Predator flys with a G231 Zenoah engine. (gas, petrol. Not nitro)

Cenreacer1…

Hope to see something soon.

Alvinl…

Thanks for heads up on the Tax thing. I actually have an uncle who is an accountant. He has helped out with most of the info I need.

You don’t need to be artistic for this. You can throw together a basic logo. Who knows… it may win. (but don’t feel bad… I couldn’t come up with one either)

Mulletman…

I normally pronounce it aero, or arrow… but if people say A-R-O, I don’t care. As long as they know who’s product they like.

To all…

There is no fixed dead line for this. It will be at least a week before the hexes are ready. I’m still waiting for raw materials, and I’m sure I will have to tweak my program, and kill a couple parts, before the first good part will be made. So, if I’m ready to ship parts… but some one needs a little more time… just let us know, and I’ll hold off on the judging. (actually, I’ll probably let the wife pick the winner)

i love the idea DrH, especially the wife judging it!

im not that artistic either, but may have a shot. (i have some 14mm cen hexes tho, could i swap them for a spare set of towers? lol)

couldnt help noticing what looks like the Red Barons plane behind ur helis - is that what it is? i love those rc biplanes... one day i might treat myself to one... one day...

Hey… one more thing…. You CAN enter as many times as you like. So, if you are the creative type, and want to submit 7 or 8 logos… then do it!!

And, on the request of poor judgment… if you don’t want the wheel drive hexes… I have one set of towers left… I’ll sub those out for the prize. (how’s that for being a nice guy)

Oh… I just thought of something… if the prize winner is outside of the USA… and there is a fee or tax added by the customs in your country… the prize winner will be responsible for it. But, I will mark the package as a gift to help avoid those problems.

Poor judgment…

It’s a GWS Slow Stick. It has the iron crosses on it… but it’s only a monoplane.

Good Luck

dr honda... Its good to see I'm not the only one who has other r/c interests... I have as of last count 6 planes and 2 boats... I sold my only heli.... too much money invested in crash kits... got old... I have friends who fly them still and I won't rule out electric... a little cheaper... I was going to work on the logo a bit more.. I have a good idea that I think you'll like, but i'm going to go bash the mt2 and my old usa1 nitro crusher with my son....maybe we'll get some creative ideas that way.... too windy for the planes today... not too cold for nitro trucks...

Every body should have a slow stick I have 3 of them my self, one brushless, one with the 400 motor and floats and one for parts. They are probably the most versatile park flyer ever made.
Over at www.rcgroups.com there are hundreds of threads devoted to the slow stick.

Hi Guys,

OK… I’ve only received 2 entries so far. I really need your help on this because I’m retarded artistically. Well… unless you consider my creations art.

The wheel adaptors will be done soon… let’s get those creative juices flowing!

Mulletman… The contest is still running. But, it will be done when my drive hexes are done. So… the deadline will probably be the end of this week. (Fri, Dec 2nd) So, if you have something in mind… make it quick.

one thing i learned in my drawing and painting class two years ago, logos are amoung the hardest things to do. the reason--> writer's/artist's block. good luck to those that are trying.

hey doc, if you take a look in my gallery you will see the chassis brace i made for my truck. i kept bending the center drive shaft when i hit curbs and stuff or let my little cousins try driving.
anyway, would you consider producing such an accessory? it involves replacing the throttle servo mounts with aluminum, making a brace bar to go between the servo mounts so the servo doesnt transfer the forces of collision and making a brace to go between the brake seat and the rear throttle servo mount. it would require some work and time, but i would think that it would be something that people would buy.

that and diff cup rings. just little pieces of tube that have been bored out to the exact diameter of the diff cups which are famous for breaking. just some thoughts.

re the diff cups - i have found that 10mm olives/compression fittings fit perfectly - not sure how easy the metric fittings are to find in the US tho - pretty much any DIY or hardware shop in the UK sells them tho, £1 for 4...

I was unable to find metric fitting here in the US so I used 3/8 fitting. You have to sand a little material off the inside but they fit.

Just PM'd you DR H, and glad you and your wife liked the design, but I cant take all the credit, as my big brother basically converted what I put down on paper to a computer image using Freehand (software), he is so much better with the program than me that its not worth me floundering for ages on something he can do in a fraction of the time.
He uses the programme a lot in his work as a graphic designer, so is rather proficient in its use, but ask him to change a car tyre (R/C, or 1:1) and he will be the one floundering!!..
The same process was used to create my Azzman logo.
Cheers,
Azz
