Hey, All you RC truck fans out there. I need some assistance with my CEN Fun Factor MT2 truck. I just exchanged my factory NT-16 inferno engine for a brand new NX-15 big block .15 engine from CEN, through their "engine exchange program." A really great deal. Got the new NX-15 for $120 dollars + $10 for the different engine mount. I am finding out that, there are a few issues that must be dealt with first, before I can start running this truck again. First, is the slide carburetor. Does anyone know the correct rotary carb replacement? The paper included with my engine shows a G70337-10 rotary carb which belongs to the NX-12 engine. Is the correct replacement carb that I should have asked for? I got the slide carb with my exchange, I wonder if CEN could exchange it for me, an even swap. There was not an option on the list of available engines to request a rotary carb, maybe I should have asked first. Also, the SG crank is much longer than the factory NX-16 cranshaft. I am going to have to change to a different clutch, etc. That I quickly figured out. Has anyone else out there, sucessfully upgraded their MT2 with this NX-15 engine, and if so, can they offer any suggestions or things that I should watch out for. In the meantime, I will have to wait on this project and get the additional parts needed to complete this monster. Thanks to all. cougartech. [8D]

Thanks Mate. Yep, I already have that one. Actually, we own 4 different MT2's, just really wanted to try the new NX-15 setup, so this is a project in the making. Ya, the OS 18 does rock, it makes for a very fast truck. We wanted to see if the NX-15 would be even faster, with the big block size and .15 displacement. If you have any suggestions or good/bad thoughts about the NX-15, would be glad to hear them. thanks for your feedback. its all appreciated...

Sorry to say but I just bought the OS .18 CV-RX engine for $99.99 + $7.99 shipping.
These guys say the engine is a direct bolt in with boderline too much power.

Why are you sorry? I know the OS 18 is borderline too much power. Besides the obvious fun of racing RC trucks, there is much fun to be had in trying new engines, upgrades, other crazy projects or attempts at new source's of power. I understand that the NX15 was the cheapest powerful engine, but, CEN claims this to be a very powerful motor. Big Block size, with a .15 displacement. A whopping 1.5hp at 33,000 rpm's. It sounds like a fun project to me. The CEN MT2 Fun Factor is one of the most fun trucks to run around with, that I have ever owned. Thats why we have 4 of them. Even though this NX15 project is on hold for a bit, I can still play tomorrow with another vehicle. Our motto, always have a spare, for those sunny days. UPS and FEDEX dont ship on Sundays, so why take a chance to be stuck without a running RC truck on such a beautiful day.

Oops! Type O. Sorry. I meant to say, the OS 18 CV-RX is the best and very powerfull drop in replacement for the MT2, but, I wanted to try a different engine, something new. Has anyone else tried to drop in a NX15 in their fun factor. What issues did you find, or how much power did you find it has when compared to the OS 18 or other engine options. Thanks again to all, keep the comments coming.

Poor Judgement has a big block in his MT2 you should look at his pics to see how to route the throttle linkage and how to do the exhaust.

Hey Poor Judgement, Can you give me a few tips on how I should route my linkage to accept the slide carburetor of the NX-15 in my fun factor MT2. I have seen a few other big block conversions on the MT2, but, not with using a slide carb. I am waiting to hear from Ken at Cen Racing to see if I can swap the carb for a rotary. They did not offer a rotary with the engine exchange program. I have always used rotary carbs. What would you consider is better? rotary or slide, or does'nt matter, depending on the preferred linkage setup. My HPI Savage has the slide carb, but all my other trucks use rotary. Hey, thanks for any suggestions you could provide. I saw the photo of your .28 MT2 project,, looks totally radical. The MT2 is my favorite truck. So forgiving during most jumps. Thanks again to all. I will gladly post some photos and info once I get this conversion built. I will have my son and I compare the OS .18 vs the NX-15 engines setup, to see which one is quicker. I am sure that the OS .18 will kick butt, but, I am more interested at the moment to see what the NX-15 is capable of doing. [8D]

Help ! Help ! I appreciate all the positive feeback that I have received in support to my question. Even Ken at Cen Racing has helped me quite a bit. After all that, my real conerns are not be answered. Has anyone out there sucessfully installed a NX-15 engine into a fun factor MT2? And if so, can he/she send me a diagram, or even better, a few sample photos of your vehicle. I am stuck with the location of the proper installation of the engine, as well as how to setup the throttle linkage for the slide type carb. My linkage was setup for rotary carb from the factory NX-16 engine. Can anyone assist me out there? Most Appreciated. [&:]

u may need the big block mounts in the first pic - mine needed spacers to raise the engine a bit as u can see, the p/s touched the chassis without them... the linkage will work out something like the 2nd pic, u may have to turn ur servo around and get creative with the battery/rx box, or fit the rear mounted batt box.
