Default Who are you??

Just thought it would be good, since we are a small group (CEN) compared to others like Traxxas. Though might be nice to just post a little about yourself, age, where from, how long in the hobby, what cars/trucks/buggys you own. Just simple things. Pics of trucks more then welcome, as soon as i get mine put back together ill take one

As for me, I am 25 and living in MD, but only for about 8mths more and heading south. I was into the hobby when i was younger with electric, nothing fancy had 2 kit electrics, never knew what they were, when i needed parts had to go to the hobby shop and just try and find parts that fit. . .became a pain and sold the cars. Wanted nitro for a long time but things came up like school, and my real truck and never got one, so this year for my Bday my gf (soon to be wife) bought me one. I have the MT2 and dealing with growing pains, but overall loving every minute of it.

Hello all! My name is Joe, I'm 35 and from Metairie, LA. That's about 10 miles from downtown New Orleans. I have only been involved in nitro RC's for about 3 months now and love it! It's a nice pass time to release some stress that seems to build on a day to day basis here as we rebuild our city. I have managed to collect a CEN Fun Factor ST, Sportwerks Mayhem buggy and a Traxxas Jato ST so far and I'm still looking for more. I'm getting scared thinking I may need RC rehab!!! But really, all jokes aside, this is a great forum and I like my FF alot compared to my other RC's. Thanks for all the great info here as it has been very useful so far.

Hi there,

Name is Chris Lee, 34 and live in Camridgeshire, United Kingdom. Been into RC cars since I was about 14. Had a few years break then decided to get myself an HPI RS4 electric tourer and also got CEN FunFactor ATX. I have had Tamiya, Hirobo, Kyosho cars in the past. Looking at getting either a Monster truck or similar soon cos I am board with the ATX already (only had it 2 weeks )

Hello, I'm Steve from Newville PA. I've been into RC since 1990. My first car was a Tamiya Falcon Then Kyosho Ultima, Losi XX, Traxxas Stampede(first Nitro), Losi NXT and now a CEN MATRIX. I am looking for a rolling chassis of a Genesis/Nemesis now, I like the MATRIX alot.

EH! I'm Dustin (obviosly). I live in Wainwright alberta (pop. 5000). I have been in RC for about 2 yrs. MT2 was my first and now i have an mt2 and buggy, both cen. I used to apprentice as a mechanic at a GM dealership but now am attending school in calgary for petroleum engineering. I love restoring cars but i have 2 projects on the go and no more $$ so i had to switch to a slightly less expensive hobby. I am fairly new to these RC's but a lot of the same mechanics seem to carry over from dirtbikes and trucks.
I gotta wait till I'm done school so i can get a few more RC's. (1.5 yrs).
The CEN forum has been a great help to me!!

Hi all,
Aaron Povey, 32, living in Auckland, New Zealand.
Ex Auto Collision Repairer turned Firefighter.
Had a few electrics when I was a kid, first a Tamiya Blackfoot, then an RC10, and have had a couple of nitro planes since then, but dreamed of a nitro offroader, and finally got myself one nearly a year ago, (FF MT2) was a bit dissapointed when the MT2 broke a diff cup on the first day after breakin and the steering servo crapped out after about 3 weeks!! But its a fun little car, especially after the OS 18 was put in.
Got myself a Savage SS 4.6 after researching what was the toughest truck as the MT2 just couldnt stand up to the punishment it was being dealt....And all I can say is WOW, this truck is built tough and goes hard, its just in a different class to the MT2, huge suspension travel, big block engine, the Sav is definitely my favourite, but I dont think I will get rid of the Cen tho, especially if I do the shaft mod.
I am hopefully getting to some racing this year, I will have to run the trucks in the open class tho.
If I was to buy another truck I think it would be a Losi LST2.

Default RE: Who are you??

Ok, Well here's the CR story,
As a little tacker,(35 years ago, you do the math!!) I spent a few Xmas holidays watching a local nitro pilot called Eddie Edwards of Barwon Heads, Victoria, do his thing with his beautiful replica Tiger Moths and Spitfires. I also clearly remember his look of dismay as his latest pride & joy just kept on going & going on toward the horizon and was never found or seen again. I made a mental note to myself.....dont buy anything with wings, do find out what a failsafe does.... I had a few crappy battery operated toys over the years,

HOWEVER....My 9 y.o. petrol-head son Dane, came home from his Grandads 9 months ago and hit me with...... "Guess What? Grandad is going to give me his old nitro buggy, its got a real engine and everything!! He said you can help me to get it going and it only needs a bits"

Does that sound like a warning?....Anyway I didn't listen to any part of my mind or body and we became the proud(?) owners of a 20 year old Kyosho Stinger MkII. (Go and try and find some parts for that on eBay!!) So our first visit to the lhs cost me about $120 for a new fuel tank, some fuel and don't forget the "Starter Kit"!! Money well spent on finding out the Kyosho was going to be a bottomless pit of grief and money so I researched what i could about Nitro and even resisited the temptation to buy a Tyrannasomething from an honest ebayer in downtown China. I found an MT2 with the JT chassis here locally and picked the lot up for $200 (usd) So now I have spent the same replacing servo's, diff-cups and spurs whilst I learn the in & outs of 4wd Nitro. Dane and I have a lot of fun as he watches me rebuild it everytime I crash it!! He is a great little driver and we have just moved into an excellent house that has Monster Truck heaven at the end of the street. Gravel, grass, jumps and ashphalt and no people or cars!!
So guys, when I am not attending to the needs of Rock-Gods and Diva's or tuning guitars for some of Australia's finest guitarists or fluffing the costumes for my beautiful fiance's dancers, I'll be out in the double garage in "Monster Truck Central" (My half!!) with the new air compressor and MT2 apart, snorting WD-40 fumes and rebuilding whatever I just "had to pull apart to have a look"
It has been heartening to see there are so many of you out there that are prepared to give support and advice to us newbs (including kids like me)
So that's it. You didn't expect 2 lines now did you??
Cheers

Chris (CR to my friends)

Default RE: Who are you??

hello everyone.

I'm Marco and go by Cain or Cainlord on the boards and live now in the Frozen Tundra of Fargo ND.

I started RC back when I was 11 when my dad brought me home a Tamiya boomerang from Korea when his tour was up. This was back when the Super Lobos were popular for the toy crowd.

Next real RC vehicle was the first release of the Losi XX-4 and I was hooked on 4wd since.

I have run both touring and offroad, and like offroad more as its more of a challenge with all the changing conditions.

I race(d) for MRC / Academy in 2005 with the SB 4wd buggy and plan to race this year with it when the new V2 comes out. I may also run the STR4 Pro V2 when that comes out as well.

I love 4wd buggy electric, but out here nitro is king so I figured to try and LST. Just too much truck for me at the time so I figured an 1/8 scale buggy would be better. in comes the CEN Matrix RTR, and I now own the one that was reviewed here on rcuniverse with the upgrades. Very nice.

Hey CEN, we can always use another 4wd Electric buggy *hint* *hint*

Losmosis: Can you speak with the powers that be about the NX .26 engine? Newbies really need a manual on this engine ASAP. Also need an initial track setup down to the diff fluids to start with as well.

Hi William I just bought a Matrix and I'm having a tough time just getting the stock motor broke in, when I started with the first tank it would actualy run but the temp was out of control (270 within 30 to 40 sec's after start up) so you can see the first tank took ahwile and this is with stock settings, I'm new to truck motors so I started turning needles now I can't get it to run with out the ignighter hook to it, there were no settings with it so I'm at loss, what do I do, I haven't even got it broke in yet and I want to play, please help me!

Hey everyone. My name is Don, and I've been into RC for about 4hrs. Just got my Nemesis on Monday, and had to round-up all the stuff to get it going. I'm 48 yrs young, and raced MX for about 35 yrs, until my body got to beat up to race. Owned a motorcycle shop for about 17 yrs, before retiring and moving to FL. So far I've got about 3 tanks run through the Nemesis, and can't wait to get it broken in so I can let er rip. Now that I have quit racing MX, I've been going to the local RC track where I got bitten by the RC bug. Going to practice for a few weeks before I enter my first race. Probably leave my truck stock until I learn to drive it a bit better. Been nice chatting, and I appreciate all the help I've got so far, and will probably be asking lots more questions.

What's up my name is Sean Music I'm 36 and I live in Fernandina Beach, it's a small Island off the East Coast of Florida. I've been playing around with cars & trucks for about a year but I've been flying planes for 6 and for now they're my true passion, but once I enter my first race that could change. I have a Rush Evo, Associated MGT 4.60 SE, CEN Matrix and just got the HPI HellFire, between my planes, buggy, trucks and Football there's not much time for my wife, I try to fit her in where I can lol. I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions in the future and thank everyone for there help. GO CANES!

Whats up guys!.......and gals.... if there are any. ; )

My name is Andrew Smolnik. Team Manager for CEN Racing and part of the Development department for CEN Racing.

I've been into R/C since I was 12 years old. Starting racing with my father and got sponsored shortly after my first year by Team Associated at age 13. Raced for Team AE, Pro-Line, Airtronics, Reedy, LRP, etc for quite a while in the elecric off-road division. I gained a few titles here and there. Also the first National Championship for the very popular TC3 on road sedan by AE.

Over the years I have worked at many R/C companies gaining the knowledge nessecary to help me with my job today. I worked for Thunder Tiger, Pro-Line Racing, Team Associated and finally my home... CEN Racing.

I am proud to be a part of our rapidly growing company. I remeber a few years back when CEN was not so ..... known... to say the least. However, within the last couple of years we have grown to what has become a strong and known force in the Hobby Industry.

We have you... our valued and loyal customers to thank for it.

Thank you.

Aside from that....... in what spare time I do have.... I play baseball in an adult baseball league, Im on...LOL... 3 softball teams. And just started to get into the paintball hobby.

Which would explain why I remain single. No time I suppose. But hey..... I have more $ in my pocket to spend on my hobbies...

Thanks for everything guys!

My name is Rich... 42 years old soon to be married with 2 kids.....
Been into various forms of R/C since the late 70's and early 80's.... Main focus for the past several years has been Nitro Monster Trucks... Still have my original MT2 in highly moddified form as well as several vintage Kyosho trucks.... ( burns buggy, USA-1 nitro and outlaw)..recently picked up a GS truggy (storm ce) and have been having fun with that as well.... Have a few very modified electrics that are stupid fast but still prefer the nitro... The reason I stayed in the hobby was because my son wanted to race and be involved ..I didn't think I would spend as much as I have on this, but its highly addictive... I didn't spend nearly as much on all my airplanes, and they are not nearly as fun...
I have to say if it weren't for this website and especially the help of certain members (you know who you are) I would have gotten rid of my mt2 long ago... this site has been invaluable to fixing and upgrading the MT2 as well as the other cen vehicles... Lastly... Andrew and Mike at Cen... Thanks
