Default CT4S Spur gear alternatives?

It seems that nearly every time I run this car I destroy the Spur gears . Are there any alternative spur gears out there for this vehicle besides the standard plastic ones? Also, are they any different sized spur gears I can use to increase acceleration, I'm not bothered about the top speed. I don't race I just run it for fun. Any help greatly received.

u can fit the hardened steel genesis spur gears to ur hubs that the green and yellow gears have (the red ones dont have them) that will sure cure the stripping prob, so long as everything else on the car is up to scratch and tight - especially engine mounts and correct gear mesh.

u will need to find some hardened steel pinions too really, but cens single piece 14/18 is steel, sorry i dont have a part number for it handy, but its the plain one, not the blue and black geared one - theyre alloy and will die in seconds on those genesis spurs.

expect the weight of the spurs to effect performance tho, they are heavy things...

before u go rushing out to get the bits - are u sure ur gear mesh is spot on and the engine is tight, threadlocked and set square to the spurs? Diff housing and brake seat are solid and holding the shaft well? Is the chassis still straight?

just checkin...

the genesis ones, hardly any signs of wear after nearly 2 gallons now, and most of that is on the beach with hardened ofna pinions and custom mounts (been thru a good few ofna pinion sets tho...)

had to spam some pics - its been too long! 2nd pic has the cen 14/18 clutch bell that i mentioned

2 more questions for you then. I have Red spurs. Do you think i can fit genesis spurs in there? Or can i switch over to the green and yellow gear tranny setup. I'm not even sure what the difference is between the 2 because both my FFs have red spurs.

u can fit the other tranny, u cant fit genesis spur gears without the alloy hubs that come with it, they may be available seperatly instead of the whole kit, not sure if the bearings are a straight swap tho... but anyway, its listed on cens site as an option part i think, it used to be there somewhere - just be sure to get the one with the right shaft, theres 3 types iirc - u want the shortest one

is FFS022 the part # you are referring to? It is listed as a hop up part. or it was on cen's old site.

i think that ffs022 is an alloy single speed hub and wont work...

G84302 is the kit u want - pic is here http://www.cenracing.com/accessory.html#upgrade right at the bottom of the page.

man theyve messed that website up... sigh...

not sure if the links below are to a reputable company - try emailing or ringing first - i remember bad reports

G84302-04 is the 1st gear hub http://www.zertuchegroup.com/parts/r..._G84302-04.htm

G84302-02 is the 2nd gear hub http://www.zertuchegroup.com/parts/r..._G84302-02.htm

GS087 and GS088 are the genesis 43 and 39T spurs - like i say tho u will need the bearing to go with the 2nd gear hub, its the same as the big diff bearings - 10x15x4mm, the first gear hub has the 1 way bearing already installed.

Sweet! thanks PJ.

yeah they really did screw up that site... Replacement parts are no where to be found and hop ups don't tell you what vehicle they fit...

I found all the parts i needed at www.toyhaus.com. Was kinda expensive to switch from thre red spurs but should be worth it I hope.

Assuming the OS 18 can turn the heavy spurs...
Otherwise i might have to find a .28 or maybe the OS .30

lol... good luck mate, its an interesting drive...

the os18 doesnt seem to care too much about the weight of the gears, its more the ratio that u are running - the gen gears are smaller than the stock mt ones, so it will loose some acceleration thru that mostly. also as u will want to use 11/15 pinions, u may well have to shave the brake block to clear the flywheel.

good luck in finding some steel spurs that small that will work with the cen mounts... might be easier to make or mod some mounts so u can use ofnas steel 11/15 bell - just a thought

I guess I'll have to wait for the parts to come in so i can see how they fit. I'm sure i can make something work[>:]
