Default GeneLE 46 Question?

Ok all I have decided to keep the Geni.......( inpart because I love that name, Man!! she sure was fun)

I hope this little honey is as much fun as the real geni

Anyway!!!!

I'm unclear on one aspect of the break in procedure. on one page it saiz I have to idle the 46 for at least 3 tanks. but elsewhere I read,
not to let the thing idle too much as this would overheat the engine.

I'm getting from this that idleing at brake in is just that, letting the truck sit there idling. should I put a fan over it to help the 46, keep
its cool?

Thanks for the responses.

PS
I'm also Unclear as to which needle is which on the carb.............

the one at the throtle arm is the slow needle(bottom needle?)

the one at the fuel inlet is the (Main needle?)

the one below the main needle is the throtle stop screw (Idle screw? is this Right?)

Thanks in advance.

Yes you have the screws correct, more commonly referred to as the HSN "high speed needle" the LSN "low speed needle" and the idle screw. As far as break in, I performed the heat cycling method, which involves getting the temperature up quicker and shutting it down to cool completely before the next cycle with the piston at BDC (bottom of stroke). Using the manufacturer break in method is also fine.... do not put a fan on the engine, as you want the sleeve to expand during break in to seat with the piston. Good luck and enjoy

also just wondering,
I noticed that the a frames on my gen LE (the bottoms) have about a1-2mm/ front to back, Play on them is this normal?
the wheels also seem loose, a bit at the hub. is that normal as well?

Yes the truck will be stationary, put it in front of the house or garage, that way if something happens it will not go flying across the yard or into traffic The chassis should be rigid, you should not have play in the chassis, the screws are probably loose, go over the whole truck and make sure no other screws are loose as well. The wheels should be snug not overly tight a bit of play is normal at the hub.

great linkk Jadda[sm=thumbup.gif] thanks!!

Question!!!!
Regarding the heat cycling method for you fellas.

So from the gets go, drive around 2-3 mins (slightly set rich) letting temp climb to around 200deg's then shut her down. positon piston at BDC(I would have to Remove glow plug in order to physically see the piston down dar, as I can think of anyother way)

then let the 46 cool completly down... ( is 2-3 mins enough time to bring the temp to 200 deg's?) thats my question[&o]

I understand that I'm to, total about 15min's of run time thru the heat/cycle method,(set slightly rich) then there after, for onother total of 10mins, normally tuned.

So My other question is,
Are the stock carb settings on our 46s, too rich........ for this type of break in?.... do I gotta lean out the carb a bit?..... if so how much in,...... terms of turns on the screws?

Fellas!!!!
I feel Really stupid asking, I just don't wanna F/up...... this motor.[]

Thanks in advance.

I can only end with............Mother should I build the wall[&o]

if you dont have a temp gun you should get one at least for breakin. you def need to know if it reaches 200 deg and run it that way for 2-3 min in a circle. shut it down ,bring the piston down to the bottom of the cylinder. to know if its at the bottom befor you even begin run it take the plug out pull the rip cord untill you see the piston go down and just start its way back up. now on the clutch to the motor make a mark( i used white out), make a line, all the way across. now when you turn your motor over just line up the white marks and its at the bottom.if you cant get the temps up at breakin wrap the head with tinfoil, but i recomend getting a temp gun their 25.00 at tower.

Your questions are fine colrod12, it's better to just ask. I'd rather answer a couple questions and see you have a good time with it, rather then getting disgusted and wasting money. I can't wait untill you break her in and come on here and let us know what you think. All of us current Gen\Nem owners know what your reaction is going to be. [sm=thumbup.gif].

Jombo hit the nail right on the head, with marking your flywheel with a sharpie or white-out. The stock setting are rich for the heat cycle method, I won't say exactly how many turns leaner it should be because that depends on alot of things. But lean it some fire it up run in circles and see if you get close to 200 in 2-3 minutes if not lean it out some but don't go crazy, the most important part is hitting 200+ and letting it cool completely.
