so what is the way to swap from the top speed gearing to the track gearing? just swap out the belts, to a smaller less tpi belt? or what. the manual is really fuzzy on this detail. it shows 2 belts in 2 different locations on teh car so i assume it belt swapping but not sure.

Tim,
The CT5 has the bottom end (track) speed already in it from the factory, the two spare 25t and belts is for the top end (74.3mph)
One 25t replaces the front drive system and the large belt is for that, the other small belt and 25t replaces the rearend drive to the diff. If your looking for off the punch I personally think the pinion and spur combo works well with car, the NX15 although a good engine is the culprit @ 33.000 RPM. This weekend I snapped 3/16th of inch off the clutch spring in hopes for a later engagment, it help a little bit but not much. I also just ordered the aluminum flywheel hoping that will help. But in the end I'm opting for a new engine.

ok i thought it came the other way around, set up for speed, and not for track... but wasnt sure about the belts needing to be swapped, or if it was something different. i like the NX15. Easy motor to work on. i ll prolly look to the 2.5 turbo or maybe an axial 32 if it will fit. i have 2 Picco 21s and a HB Lighting 26 in for RMA. hmm i hear that HB is a screamer and for the time i had it in my bb Maxx. WOW. cranks conrod nub broke off. 2-3 qrts in. '
but if the other engines preform anything like the NX. im in!.. lol

man, with the way these NX motors are, im not sure if i d look for a different brand motor.. the os 18cvrx would be an interesting motor. or a Picco 26/27/28. in here though.

Todd71, on the rccaraction website there is a video of a R-40 runnning with the new wasp motor in it, it is listed under the nitro forum the thread is called.... Team Orion Wasp Rev Crf Photos & Review check it out if you want to see how it performs! The motor has been dynoed on the X-dyno and they said it is the most powerful small block motor they have tested so far, beating out the OS TZ.18.

DYNOs are great when comparing motors on the bench, the only problem with dyno results as they are just that results and should only be used to find top end perfermance of engines. which goes right out the door as soon as its put into any 2 vehicles with different set up, pipe, altitude, ect....but the video of it running will tell oodles more than a dyno of it could.

I disagree a good dyno will give you an indication of the performance a engine is capable of but If you don't know how to tune and you have the wrong pipe on it, you can have the best motor in the world and its going to be crappy. The dyno that these guys use in my opinion is accurate the motor turns a weighted drum instead of a prop. And the video of this engine confirms that it is indeed a powerful motor. The final determing factor will be how many big races it wins and how easy it is to tune. It has not proven itself yet but it looks promising.

poor judgment according to the dyno result attained from the X-Dyno yes it did edge out the TZ .18!! The TZ puts out a little more torque but the Wasp puts out more horsepower. If you get a chance check out the video on rccaraction under the nitro forum. But I kinda suspect this motor , the Wasp would not like really tall gearing like what we have on our Ct5 and Fusion.

the extra low end torque really helps out with the taller gears.. i suspect this is why CEN went with a modified 15 to increase it.

jesus - listen to it...
http://www.flurl.com/item/WASP_REV_CRF_Engine_u_135350/
id have liked to have seen the torque and hp curves, i bet its real peaky like the os 18tz. but in a lightweight car on a little track like in the vid... how tempting is that?
it could work well with the ct4/5 with the hi acceleration belts etc fitted, or maybe even lower the gearing by using funfactor mt spurs if need be perhaps?
it looks like a right little rocket, and its a pretty lil motor!

This motor like to rev tall gears might make it run hot , I think I remember reading someplace that they had to go to a lower gear ratio to get the motor to really perform.
