Default Need help with my Cen Genesis

Hey guys. I got a problem with my Cen Genesis. It's the first problem i run into since the day i bought it. I think that was around 3-4 months ago. Anyways, i'm having a problem with trying to start up, where when you pull the pull start, the pull start comes out, and doesn't spin the motor/flywheel/whatever you wanna call it. It'll do it, but now, it almost doesn't anymore. So when i pull it, it comes out without spinning it. I know the pull start isn't damaged or anything, and i've never been rough with my truck. Any ideas what's causing it?

sounds to me like the one way bearing is gone in the pull starter.

Could very well be the OWB .. BUT .. before you buy one, pull the bearing off and try turning the shaft to see if it will turn the motor. It could be the small spring and pin behind the back plate. The spring likes to break ocassionally. OWBs are alot cheaper on e-bay or there is a thread somewhere about being able to get just the bearing itself and pressing the old one out. I think it was about googling the bearing # stamped on it. The spring is in the end of the crank. I found the a toothpick with some grease on it will pull the spring out. It is small. maybe 1/2" or a little less. It pushes a small pin out to the start shaft to lock it for directional starting. Don't lose it ! Kinda hard to explain, hope this makes sense.

You can also try cleaning the OWB with some denatured alcohol. Sometimes fuel will leak thru the backplate and get the OWB 'slipping' which is what you are experiencing. If a cleaning doesn't work then it is prob. time for a new OWB.

Hi I had this problem with my genesis but it wasnt the one way bearing. Inside the engine there is a little pin with a tiny spring. What ws happening was the spring had become too compressed and it wasnt pushing the pin out far enough so it wasnt catching on anything so it couldnt rotate the engine. What you have to do is take the pullstart off (but be carefull it doesnt come uncoiled) take the back plate off and look inside for the little pin and spring. When you have located it just put some tension on the spring so that it opens out more. This will then push the pin out more which will catch and then rotate the engine. Hope this helps.

pirate10 is right, but it most likly its ur OWB if is turning the piston and not the flywheel it is a acorn nut or a broken crankshaft

sounds like you need a new one-way bearing... i always keep an extra one with me... like a glow plug... need that motor to start- in a pinch clean it and the back-plate area with motor spray....
roto-tech is the way to go
