I was wondering ( 2 things actually )
[link=http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi?part_id=3297#CT5110]Engine conversion kit[/link]
Won't this kill my car ( transmission etc...)
Will this fit the CT4 ?
--> I now own a CT4, but used to have a CT5, and I don't remeber there being any difference in engine placement/ space between the 2)
thanx for UR responses guys
Also, I've been reading about CT4 yellow & green gears.
I've got a CT4 with both gears being red ? What's up with that?
If I check the exploded vieuws for both CT4 & CT5, I see the CT4 having the red gears, and the CT5 having yellow/green gears.

OK, got the answer for the first question: The engine conversion will fit ( thanx Frank from neweramodels.com )
But now the question still remains; What's up with the gears from the CT4 & CT5
In attachment U can find what I mean

The green and yellow gears suit the G84302 optional alloy hubbed 2 speed. Im guessing the CT5 comes with it as stock. The Genesis steel spurs will fit the alloy hubs, worth bearing in mind for a big block...
The optional 2 speed isnt cheap by itself though.
Check cens site here, scroll down... http://www.cenracing.com/accessory.html#upgrade

So I guess the best thing to do is to get a CEN CT with the yellow & green gear, and on that I can fitt the Genesis Steel Spur.
I knew I shouldn't have sold the CT5...
Thanx Judgement.

Watch your diffs too, do the funfactor heavy duty diffs fit the CT5? If so theyre hard as nails. Steel pinions will be needed too. Cen do these too - the silver one piece, non threaded type.

Gwen Rc what size motor are you planning on putting in your car??

On RCUniverse there's a guy running a .28
Perhaps .32? But will be very difficult to handle, I know...
. Just kinda a freaky concept I wanna build...But that is in the future. Firstly, I'm gonna get myself a CT5 as a base.

Gwen RC Calandra Racing products sells some extra wide rear tires I believe 35 mm wide might help you with traction problems associated with a big block conversion. I put a pair on my Fusion when I first got it, the wide rear tires really made the car handle better.

anticipate a "possible" belt issue once you get the power to deliver- most guys simply addapt additional tensioners to keep things "under control"

Damn.
I just killed my CT4 ( well, allmost)
Bent the chassis, top plate ( radioplate ) and broke a whole lot off plastic in the front...
It's gonna be fun making this right. Gonna build myself a chassis from 5mm aloy, with some changes so it get's a lot lighter than the original one.
I'm getting a ct5 this WE, so we're off with the concept car too ...
I'll keep U guys up to date...

If you mean the genesis steel spurs, to replace the green and yellow gears, then these are the parts you need. You will need steel pinions too.
GS087 - 43t 1st gear spur
GS088 - 39t 2nd gear spur

GR8 info guys. im thinking of pulling the NX 15< not that NETHING is wrong with it> and installing a Hot Bodies Lightning 26 in my CT5, the CT4 i understand needed the additional tensioners installed, i was under the impression the CT5 already had them? never looked close enough. but anyways. i think the lightning will be quite the change over the nx 15. that motor has a shizload of torque and revs really good. it would push my near solid ally Tmaxx to about 42mph or so.
nice, i knew the steel spurs would work, but didnt know which ones i needed, thanks PJ for those part numbers... i plan on taking my CT5 to the parking lot races at the LHSs around here next summer. running the 26 in a Mod Class would be Crazy Fun i think..
i ll prolly start on my CT5 in a few days. reading this thread has got me inspired, though im LOVEING MY 1/5 gassers!! ( though theres not much love with the snow).

the steel pinions replace the Yellow and Green Gears on yoru 2 speed tranny in your CT4 or 5. being steel, they weigh a tad more, but going to a BB motor, i think thell be a smart upgrade.
