my nemesis weight
#2
Very nice... The thing must be nuts on the track now.
If you could do me a favor and show some close up pictures on how you mounted that wing. I've been wanting to do that and have some ideas but if you could share some insight, that would be great.
Also, if you want to shave a little more weight off the truck, I've seen some, what seem to be, very nice carbon chassis plates that are quite a bit lighter than stock. Since you seem to race and not bash the truck, I think you wont have a bad effect from the slight decrease in durability.
This is the website of the guys that make em: http://www.holeshoteng.com/ but you will have to look on ebay for the side plates, since they don't show up on their website for some reason. Just search for CEN CARBON and they will show up.

well i was looking at switching to plastic diff cups threw the whole truck, aluminum shock bodies and carbon side plates to make it even lighter. as far as the wing it didnt hold up the way i expected it to

the plastic ones are gs007, but i dont think there that much lighter than the aluminum ones. now is the 11-1/2 lbs with the wheels or without? i would consider loosing the the front steel shaft and replacing it with the plastic telecopic shaft, that should shed about 7oz.

Hey Blackrain, I have a little tidbit You might be interested in, Check My Gallery for the "brake cam mod". It is an aluminum brake cam carrier with a flanged ball bearing cam bearing(Very Smooth!! No off throttle brake hangups). I have it installed on the front brake because I am running the front brakes with a locked center diff, but you can use it on the rear brake cam.. I am working on a Gear cover on the rear of the tranny. (wait'll you see that one).
Anyway, Good work!! I really enjoy seeing someone else tinkering about.
BTW. I think the plastic diff cups have been discontinued..If not let me know ok?
Have fun,,

you need to get the part for the center diff for the genesis, then the part that goes to the front diff, and you also need to change the center diff bearing to a different one

i dont know it sounds like more work for little gratification, sorry i brought it up.

If you decide to use the telescoping outdrives on the Nemesis, the bearings need to be changed as well. The bearing that is standard on the Nemesis is much larger than the one on the Genesis.
If you have a GST 7.7 and you want to change the outdrive for rear to the telescoping ones, you will have no problems as the spacer for tranny case is already there (part number GS286). But you have to do some grinding to get the clearance. I am not sure on how much, as I have not done the telescoping mod to the rear driveshaft of the GST/Nemesis/Genesis trucks.
The reason for this is that the GST and Nemesis come with the Metal to Metal brake systems stock so they use a different tranny case, hence the need for the spacers.
If you are trying to convert a Nemesis to use a complete center telescoping system, it would take me a little more time to try and compile a list of parts that you would need. Hope this helps.

well after looking at the exploded view of the gst 7.7, all that is needed to do plastic telescoping shafts for the front and rear is
part number gs039 2 of them
part number gs043 2 of them and the plastic telescoping shaft
part number gs039 2 of them
part number gs043 2 of them and the plastic telescoping shaft

Hey Blackrain,
I am not positive, but I do believe the output shafts for the genesis GS039 are a much smaller than the GS208 output shafts. The inner diameter of the bearing is a 12mm for the Nemesis Differentials (page 05 of the Nemesis manual), whereas the Genesis/GST ones are the 8mm inner diameter bearing(also on page 05 of the GST manual).
To do the conversion I think you will need the GS060 Diff case cover for the smaller ID bearing, and then GS006 the spur gear for the smaller bearing. You might want to check the manual as I could be wrong.

Hey Blackrain, Love your work great direction to go... However, s5lin is right.. unless you have changed the center diff that out put is not going to just "bolt-on". The Center diff on the nemesis tranny is bigger and beefier. You will need to change the tranny or just the diff if you can get the spacers required to fit the genesis or gst diff in the nemesis tranny case..
Good luck and keep us posted

Well Blackrain, My nemesis Manual shows Part#G73921 to be a Bearing 12 x 21 x 5, and my GST manual I got from the 'Bay shows the Part#G73914 to be a Bearing 8 x 16 x 5 The first image is the GST manual page 5 and the second is the Nemesis manual page 5. As you can see all of the parts except the bevel gears(the most expensive to manufacture) are different. Just see for yourself...

hay i realized what you guys were saying was right luckily i was able to stop my shipment and order some aluminum shocks instead. doing a plastic driveline would be more realistic and less costly if i had a Gst or Genesis instead just to many things to change out. im just going to do aluminum shocks with no piggy backs carbon fiber chassie, and plastic diff cups and weigh it again and see were i stand before i try anything else
