Ok, well I have this thing pretty well broken in on pavement and I want to see what it will do ath my local track (as pathetic as it is...) I have a couple of questions I am hoping some of you guys may be able to answer for me.
1. BUGGY CEANING: I am a neat freak. I am wondering how you guys clean your nitro cars after a day at the track. I think I will go nuts looking at a dirty buggy. Even now I get it home adter a day on pavement and clean everything I possibly can. I have seem some sort cleaning spray out there but I am not sure if that is safe for my electronics, engine, plastic components etc... Cleaning tips please.
2. SUSPENSION: I havent even has this thing in the air and I am concerned that the suspension is too squishy. I feel like its going to bottom right out on the pan when it lands. Shock resevoirs? Shock oils (ugh...) Suspension settups? I am looking to have the buggy low but not too low. Dogbones just about straight and stiffen it up so its cg is low yet it handles jumps and bumps well. Right now it seems to have way too much squish. I have heard that heavier shock oils will help and shock resevoirs but I am not that stoked on rebuilding shocks yet unless its THE fix.
thnx

Try changing to a stiffer spring and also experiment with the different shock mounting positions as this will change the leverage ratio making your suspension seem lighter or stiffer. Also if the buggy is sitting to low to the ground ad some preload spacers to the shocks. To get the most performance out of your suspension I highly recommend experimenting with different shock oils. Go to CEN' s website and you will be able to find setup sheets that will show you how the Cen factory racers set up thier cars for certain track conditions,

Hey all,
I'm getting ready to run my GST at Crystal Park for the first time, and would also like to know how some guys go about cleaning. I'm thinking maybe compressed air would be enough, maybe a small compressed air tank and an air nozzle? Portable and refillable..
I mean if it's not caked with mud or dirt you're not doing it right, but there does come a time where you want and/or need to clean it for whatever reason..
Any ideas?

dStruct, My Nemi gets a very loving tear down when things start getting caked up. I go thru every component and look for broken or worn parts. just for inbetween bashing I really gauge how gunky it gets but for normal cleaning I use "Simple Green" it will clean your parts to look new and the dirt and oil just melts off on contact, then a light rising under the hose and good stiff blow dry with plenty of compressed air before the red rash gets a chance to start. Compressed air in all the right places, makes huge difference at getting the access water off.
Hope that helps and fun at the track gettin'er dirty!!!

Those little silicone risers on the shocks? I'm not worried about bottoming those out, however I did bust a shock the other day, I'm still not sure how, but the top part of the shock where it screws together was somehow cross-threaded like it got hit so hard it jarred it so the threads were tweaked by one thread, so I just unscrewed it and screwed it back together. Works great now..

I've got one of my two Matrixes running good. We tore up some pavement and the front yard yesterday. (Me and my 13 yr old). Of course it is his car that is ready. Mine I need to work on the fuel tank and I'm waiting on some screws that were missing to arrive. How often do the diffs need serviced?

Found a local track and got both Matrixes out for a run. The engines are definitely broken in and now it is tweak time. These things fly!!! Now if I can stay on the track I will be ok. Had alot of 'Rough Moments' on the track with end over end and cartwheel action. Nothing broke on the Matrix. Until I got a little carried away on the pull starter and now the cord is stuck extended. I'll have something to work on the next few days.
Overall, I am impressed.
