Hello i just started to get my gst back in shape for her sitting all summer. and i did a switch from roto start back to a pull start which right now she starts up right away. my questions is that i filled her up halway with fuel and ran it on idel for about 15-20 mins and i have a venom failsafe installed with the temp monitor on it and 15 mins into the ideling it was reading 350 so i shut her down and didn't want to start it back up. 350 is to hot??? i had an exhust leak ahwile back so i read on this form that i can crazy glue the gasket on the muffler that attches to the engine and that will clear it up. did that a few months ago but this is the first time i am starting it. so what should i do? to lean or to rich? i took all the wheels off and just have her sitting on the chassie is that bad to do? i just dont want to worry if its going to take off on me. this pic is what i took today and is that normal amount of oil thats comming from the muffler? any help would be great.

That seems like ALOT coming out of the muffler. I also did the CA glue to the gasket to the engine. Cause everytime i put the header on the gasket would slide out. It helps. Yes 350 degrees is way to hot but I would also question the venom failsafes quality. Get a real temp gun or something. Try going back to the factory needle settings and start from there.

Dogman hasnt been around in a long time. I never check the CEN forum cause I sold my GST long ago.
For tuning you should really tune to smoke. Not temp.

The facrory settings for this engine are 3- 4 1/2 out HSN and Flush to 1 out NSN. I always start with 4 1/2 and 1 out and go from there. The leaner you run an engine the hotter it gets. You should run as rich a mixture as you can stand unless you are in a race. Given the same trucks and same skill set of the driver the engine that is running leaner will be faster but will not last as long as the one running richer. If you run with little or no smoke the engine will not last any time.
I write the factory settings for my engines on the inside of the body of my trucks/ cars for reference.

I wouldn't tune it to temperature. That being said it should be over 200 and under 270 or so but go by smoke and performance instead.
I started to break my GST in yesterday and used the old motors settings with the very lean lsn settings (wish I knew there were two sets of settings). It was run like that for about 10 minutes and was revved above idle and hopefully out of the lsn range but it has me a bit concerned. It still has all the initial pinch, though. I did richen up the lsn a bit because it seemed to need it.
