Ongoing RCU problems

I believe that something under the hood is going on at RCU to remedy the ongoing problems.
For the record, I have been trying to upload one or two 200K files for three days without success. Just posting a comment in a thread is a hit and miss proposition. Most of the time my browser just hangs - any time of the day or night. I have tried all browsers (and continue to do so), but I know this is not a browser issue - it is a network issue.
If anyone is still experiencing difficulty with RCU, please post your comments.
Guys, it would be nice if this was sorted out. It seems worse than ever.
Your efforts will be much appreciated.
David.

Hi David,
I have been able to post pictures as well as before over the last week or so. No problems like that period in December.
However, I have had times when the selected page will hang. I reselect it and it goes right through. Last night, I gave up though. The selected pages didn't work, the hang was forever, so I tried another site. The other site blasted on like there was no resistance.
One wonders what the heck?
Chris...

It has taken me over a half hour to get into this thread. When I click on the link in the thread menu, it just hangs for several minutes then gives me an error. This has been going on for about a week.

It hangs from time to time...occasionally...never know when it's gonna happen?![:@]
I can pop from forum to forum a few times, then it just freezes...
Doesn't happen all the time though...but I have noticed that it seems to happen mostly to RCU2 server? (I go to the Magazine page and scroll all the way down, to see which server I happened to get )
Seems to be OK right now...but it froze on me this morning.
I'm on RCU2 right now, and knock on wood, it's working fine...(hope I didn't just jinx myself...

Maybe the servers are being overloaded with some of the insane/useless threads and forum issues that are being posted. If people could stick tpo R/C related issues that may help. Who really cares what kind of car I drive or what I do for work?

I don't think this is a server issue - that is almost too simple to solve. I've had problems regardless of which server I was on.
This is a bandwdith/network issue.
What I don't understand is the randomness of the problem. Tonight RCU seems snappy but I have yet to try and post an image... I won't dare!
Any enlightenment on the issue by the IT staff would be most appreciated - just to know if I should plan to post in a day or two or in a week or two.

Everything started working fine later last night. I guess the most frustrating thing is that many people are not very tolerant of RCU system problems and they just quit using the site. And I don’t blame them! After this episode it could take a month or more before RCU fans start coming back to see if the site is working. Disappointing after all the work we have all done to make this part of the forum interesting.

Mike,
I was wondering if it might be in your powers to inquire with the RCU IT staff on this matter since you were instrumental in getting the classic pattern forum up and running.
It would be nice to have an idea of what to expect in the days to come. I consider myself tolerant on these matters since I am familiar with IT problems but on the other hand, I don't want to waste time either trying multiple times to upload a image if the problems remain "pending". A brief, this is what we are doing and this is the ETA for RCU to be back to normal type of comment from the IT staff would go a long ways to reduce any frustrations.
Thanks, David.

Gents,
Look here, rangerman, cheap Chinese transformer for a foam cutter power supply :
Then I talked to an electronic engineer that said all you need is a 40VA 115V power supply (like the ones you find in some of the heater units in homes for the emergency heat when it's too cold for the heat pump to keep up) that can be found at Grainer for about $17 http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/DAYTON-Transformer-4VZE5?Pid=search
See post 14: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10250993/tm.htm
Or here:
No big electrolytic capacitors available in the USA, frequent flyer:
Cees , thanks for that, I had that thought, but wasn't sure. That would certainly make things a whole lot easier. It seems here is the USA the big ones are all imported, which really drives up the cost.
See post 71: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10...mpage_3/tm.htm
Also the posts about wiring problems of retractable landing gears.
On any moment you will be confronted with lack of quality of hardware. Maybe there is another reason for your problems but for us, Hanna (and I) think(s) this can be the main reason of the problems.
See for example our 1500 KVA safety transformer with separate windings. If we want we can foam cut wings for a full scale Airbus A380–800 without any “bug”.
Have fun, this all on RCUniverse isn’t our regular job, problems will be solved!!!!

PatternPilot,
I think I know that pattern forum site,
Much too busy for us, we prefer quietness.
Oh wait, Hanna has a question:
"Do you also have milk mugs?"

It looks like all pattern flyers in the USA do have their own classic pattern organization so I am thinking of starting my own classic pattern organization in the Netherlands.
The list of approved planes will be short, Taurus and on the membership card? HANNA.
Have fun.
Oh, and of course RCUniverse!!
Cees
Oh you did forget a "F" did learn it from "WEDJ"!!

Thanks for the offer of the mug but that wasn’t the reason of Hanna’s question.
Hanna is worried about the cats in the USA, see also these posts , that was why see did ask.

Your question:

The technical knowhow about classic pattern planes of your members isn’t enough to have an own (closed!) classic forum, so I would stop with it and ask the members of the Classic Pattern Association to behave as real “representatives” in “Not CPA related forums ”.

For the past few days my problems with RCU have disappeared.
Now, will they stay gone ???

That was then; this is now !
I'm back in the tank with RCU problems.
Perhaps we could describe it as a rolling blackout - ya' think?

Ha Wallabee
You are also a Grey Cypers Cat I see, be proud for that!
We are the Taurus under the cats, or do we have to say the cat under the Taurusses.
I do like you Wallabee, here you have a picture of me when I was still a young girl and you also may have my coffee mug.
Bye, Hanna
