Super Kaos JR.- Purchased at swap meet - Engine Mount Question?
Picked this super kaos jr.up at a swap meet for $40.00. My only problem is the model has maple mounts with holes drilled complete with blind nuts. The holes don't match any engineI have. I was told it as an OS 46. I have an 46LA, but it doesn't match the hole pattern. Any suggestions to remedy the problem?

RE: Super Kaos JR.- Purchased at swap meet - Engine Mount Question?
Jim,
It looks like you should be able to pop the blind nuts out, plug the holes with pieces of hardwood dowel rod & epoxy and then re-drill to match your engine. I would probably drill the holes out just enough to hit "clean" wood, then install the dowels.

RE: Super Kaos JR.- Purchased at swap meet - Engine Mount Question?
Ralph read my mind...
Looks to be well built. Dunno about a 46 LA though - maybe it has enough omph for decent vertical. I have to say my K&B 40 (no BB) has pulled many a decent model around.
David.

Thanks guys, that was my thought too. Can't seem to get blind nuts to stay in place when I build. There is some epoxy on the nuts holding them in place. The present bolt holes are too far back for OS46LA, the thrust plate doesn't clear the front of the plane.
I have two kaos kits on the shelf and a 90% complete tower kit. At $40.00 or best offer at the swap meet, I couldn't turn it down.

I checked the bolt pattern 44mm X 17.5mm .An OS.46AX was probably the engine used. Don't remember seeing the engine on the swap table.
Thanks for the offer David, my budget is limited on rcgear this year. I'll be lucky if this plane sees the air next year. Maybe then I'll get the matching engine and save myself the problem of redrilling the engine mount.
It's also my Father's Day Gift also (if I suspected as much I would have bought more stuff).

Jim, you could drill out engine mounts as well. Do you need a .46 AX? I have one with a pipe.

Jim,
Compare your model to the RCM Super Kaos Jr. article. It shows the K&B .40 (the older model with the prop extension and Perry carburetor).

Jim, I'll just send you the engine and pipe, I'm not using it. No strings attached.

RE: Super Kaos JR.- Purchased at swap meet - Engine Mount Question?
Jim,
your SK40 reminds me of the AT-6 Harvard I built a few years ago. I guess the builder was going for the scale look. A little top trim and David's kind offer engine will bring that model to life!
By the way, that is a SK Jr (or 40 if you will) rather than a Kaos. Different stab location and design.
David.
